  1. i've not tried canandaguia but some deep diving wide body plugs like a cotton cordell get it bouncing right off the bottom and pop it when you feel rocks they will smash it on other waters. good for trolling pick the right plug for the depth there are some that will get 20-25 just stay outside the weeds and bounce the hard bottom
  2. I am interested in a couple rigged send me pm with price [ Post made via Android ]
  3. Well this was our third yeaar trying it and we did a little better we netted ten and hit all four spieces both were improvement s for us had a rainbow that was 26 inches but looked like it left the creek the day before and was so skinny it only weighed 5 was on the board for about a minuet I continue to learn more about the lake and a lot of it comes from this site even managed our first double this year. I plan to fish all summer this year so maybe I can start to get some more decent numbers. Good luck and congrats to all who placed [ Post made via Android ]
  4. fish the second half of the day monday most of the derby boats will be gone. hopefully the fish will start to turn back on
  5. Had it happen twice to me once a wire connecter was a little corroded on the inside cut it off put on a new one and was good. Might be a quick fix just run the wiring and see what it looks like the other time the transdeucer bracket broke and would swing and pivot so it would stop getting a reading and just flash [ Post made via Android ]
  6. I vaguly remember on my dads boat as a kid he had a license and assigned call letters but I don't know if it still applies over my life so far I've towed in three others and been towed once always be willing help others but if there is a service for your area it worth the fee just for the piece of mind [ Post made via Android ]
  7. What happens when the lake level changes and moves the shoreline while there out there? Nice that the cg will have to patrol this town passes a law and another agency has to use funds to enforce? Thaats how you trim a budget wonder who gets the fines [ Post made via Android ]
  8. Call boat us before it happens like AAA for the water [ Post made via Android ]
  9. similar situation I am in now with a 14' aluminum great way to learn is to fish all the fingerlakes. lots of fish and your closer to shore most of the time so you can get out of weather in a hurry. I only go on lake O in the spring for browns and fall for kings because thats when I can fish close to shore. I grew up fishing lake O with my dad on his 24' trophy and the wind and waves could come up in an aweful hurry and make even a boat like that feel like an iffy propsition and with the small motor sometimes you cant even push through it well. That said the fingers are a great fishery and a lot of the leasons learned can be applied to Lake O I would recomend looking for a lead core rig or two best investment I have made so far. got the wire diver late last year and havent had much chance to use it yet so we'll see how it compairs but I have high hopes. the three rod rule definatly opens things up for the small boat two.
  10. That's got pike bait written all over it [ Post made via Android ]
  11. i fished the lake last weekend for the first time and it turned into a disaster. launched out of the north end (should have brought waders ) caught no fish and had the wind turn us in a 360 when we had 5 lines and two boards out that was fun. caught no fish and had some issues at the end of the day. will try it again though just gonna modify some things and bring waders
  12. just my experience but the affliction seems much more common on lake O than the fingers. once the big boats go in the water I stay off the big lake not worth the stress especially with such good fishing in the fingers just as close.
  13. Also interested depending on asking price [ Post made via Android ]
  14. i agree you should all get rid of your electronics I would be happy to take them and dispose of them for you ill also accept modern boats and highend rods and reels
  15. vettman dont worry to much about me catching all your fish. my daughter is allergic so I have to be real careful about bringing them home and as a result keep even fewer than I used to. Last year I kept LL out of seneca once and one brown out of Lake O. I switched to a 4 stroke honda 7.5hp which seems to be much cleaner than the oll 66 johnson 40hp i had runs better two which is why i switched. I always feel out of place in my little 14 footer with homemade planer boards and mast fishing 6 rods on with all second hand equimpment that has been re-engenered to fit the boat. trolls suprisingly well but definatly unique
  16. do to mechanical trouble i had to switch out from a 40hp to a 7.5 hp motor this year the most exciting part about that is now i can fish hemlock and canadaice with the wind thats predicted this weekend i may not be able to fish browns on lake O and that means i'll be on hemlock. bright side to every story right
  17. i only have a 14 footer but my trailier is from the 1960s and is very high off the gound its a single axel that goes all the way across so the boat has to sit over it makes it fun but the boat is small enough that I can man handel it when theres no launch dock. I'm going tomarrow afternoon if the weather isnt conducive to fishing lake O for browns I may go to one of these lakes instead of seneca
  18. can anyone tell me where the launch is on canadaice and hemlock. this year I downsized to a 7.5hp motor so I can fish these lakes during open water with the small boat it might be a nice place to go for iffy weather as seneca can get a llittle rough for me real easy plus i love the lack of development. I used to fish canadaice in the winter for pickeral but that was 10 years ago.
  19. I was adiehard stren guy for ever but when it comes to fluro p-line all the way I even use it on my tipups for pike and it hadeles the teeth well [ Post made via Android ]
  20. i think the biggest thing here is that ralph wilson opened up the wallet and spent money. Thants like the first sign of the apocolypse next politicions will do whats best for the public than the aliens will land and kill us all
  21. i fished there on sunday as well i only fished the top for LLs and browns didnt move a rod all afternoon gave up on those and went in tight and trolled up some pike on the spining gear. with the manual down riggers I just didnt have it in me to fish deep after the week i had espically with the pike option open like that. thats why i like the fingerlakes. and yes I think the LLs are a bit south but with the smooth water and lots of sun I think they were likely spread out and boat shy.
  22. I fished the top 50 feet all afternoon looking for lls and such marked a few fish in 80a feet but no takers pulled the rods switched to spinning gear made the las pass in 10' and got three pike before dark at least the new to me motor ran well all day for the first trip out [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Im on seneca right now and nothing going anyone know what color is working? Im out of severn but ill take reports from any whare [ Post made via Android ]
