  1. I'm not sure of exact measurement but my hunch is about a couple miles (It is a Uniden Atlantis model by the way)
  2. Nice work Kevin. I use that same stick above for trout here on the Fingers
  3. I have one and it doesn't carry all that far even with the 5W setting. In order to get any distance you need a regular unit with a good antennae. The primary advantage is portability....I can take it with me on someone else's boat if they don't have one.
  4. Hey Kev, I guess things don't always go smoothly on Father's Day but you sure lucked out on retrieving your board and setup. The girls took me out for dinner and drinks at the Sandbar so I got to watch folks going out the channel and coming back in but that is as close to the water as I came Great dinner and drinks though....
  5. Nice going for the two Mikes That is the best smile I've seen on Mike C's face in a long time WTG guys! The storm is hitting here right now big time good thing you got your fishing in when you did Mike.
  6. You guys are kinda hard on me.....good thing I don't have sensitive feelings... Some things never change like the ball busting I'm subjected to...and which I hardly ever do myself
  7. Hank's right and I should have thought of that too Fran Barrett at Barrett Marine between Geneva and Waterloo is the best around for Mercs and Optimax in particular and he has the largest selection of Merc parts in this whole area right there on hand. I know is a bit of a drive but if you want to make sure it is done right take it there. He is honest as the day is long and very fair. Here is his number etc.: Barrett Marine 485 West River Road Waterloo, New York 13165 315-789-6605 or 1-800-924-8940 Fax: 315-781-2401 E-mail: [email protected]
  8. They make some for inside pickup truck caps that would work fine. Probably Cabelas or Bass Pro might have them They are just "clips" that hold the rods in place on the inside top.
  9. That was great....brought back memories of my kids when they were little. She did real well with the rod etc. I'll bet that fish had a huge headache though
  10. Sweet! Sure have them dialed in this season Justin.
  11. Cool! Very thoughtful and useful gift.....high on my wish list right now too.
  12. Ed just makes the reports Kinger (who trained Ed) selects the spoons , the spots and probably even reels in the fish
  13. I believe the 2 's are about 5/8ths and the 3's are about 7/8's maybe? lately I have used just the solid ball bearing swivels in those sizes and fit them with my own black duolock snaps (the stronger wire type)
  14. I spray shad scent on the inside of the lid of my plastic lure boxes close it and let sit for a few days then wipe the residue off the lid and any lures where it has attached with a clean dry cloth because most of these scent sources will tarnish lures especially those with real silver finish (e.g. Suttons). I know metal isn't supposed to absorb the scent but many of my spoons have add on eyes tape etc. and I think it at least masks the human scent as well as the nail polish I've used to color some of the lures I also spray my flies and flashers/spinneys with the shad scent before they go in the water. I just use the YUM shad scent you find in sporting goods stores.
  15. The sizes sometimes vary with manufacturer but generally size 2 for browns and lighter stuff (e.g. Finger Lakes) and size 3 for routine fishing including salmon.
  16. WTG nice report and nice idea of combining the 4 pics into one
  17. Your success rate might be better if you go at night and let your ears guide you.
  18. Welcome aboard Tom and best of luck to you. Les
  19. Like my buddy Hop suggested this thread should be yanked...it has taken on a life of its own....lets get back to sport fishing....
  20. Thanks for clarifying that Justin
