    I do the same thing but I use the elect. to remove the rib cage also the same way. Just follow the ribs around.

    Nice fish, sounds like a good day. It was a beauty of a perch day on Erie 3 of us kept 60 -70 nice 10" - 12" ers. today. Weather could stay like this all yr. for me.

    Check out/google some "stick" downrigger wts. I have read where 8#,s work as well as 10# cannon ball wts. I just made some 10# out of 1.5" pipe & 16" long, they are suppose to cut down on blow back. I also think my crew won't bang the side of the boat as often as with the balls. jmo

    Use electric knife on all my fish with very little waste. Catch them, clean em, eat em, or freeze em never left overnight . Use the elec.,slow down a bit & get very little waste.

    No problem guys it just bothers me at times how everything is such a big secret. Unless its a derby or lots of $$ involved whats the big deal.

    Why is that? If you were coming to lk Erie I/we would tell you right where to go. Like now guys are getting them in 66 fow between the Catt. & Sturgeon pt. I don't get the big secret, like one guy is going to get All the fish in the lake! I have heard because the lake is so big & they are hard to find so don't tell anyone. I am pretty sure lake erie is a bit bigger than seneca. bs imo.

    We(3) fished 62 fow straight out in front of the Catt. kept 70 nice ones had to do a bit of culling. Had a constant bit going.

    What SK8man said X2 plus Lowrance told me to run my power wires inside a peice of garden hose as much of them as far as possibile. Run them right off the battery. You boat ground come right from your battery , also check all your ground connections/jumpers on your motors. I did all this it did clear up but still get interferance. (new lowrance products suck) imho.

    Good luck, if you like walleye ckeck out "Walleye.com"/ eastern lake erie has lots of info. from good guys. If you troll for walleye Lk. Erie is the place to go. imho.

    Tried silver/blk on erie & ontario with no luck. pricey.

    X2- Had trouble with 4 Elite -7 hdi's Upgraded to a HDS 7 gen 2 so far so good. Have used it 5-6 times so far & seems to be good. What ever you do take an extended warranty.

    Jmo. but stay away from the Elite 7 HDI. I had 4 of them & trouble with each of them. I upgraded ($300.+) to the HDS 7 gen 2 & so far so good. Have used it 3-4 times with no problem, I just have to learn what buttons to push. Good luck.
