Usually I don’t mess with coyotes until after late season deer is over but special situations call for quicker action.
On October 8 I had to put my lab Duke down. Tough stuff but it was time. Buried him in the backyard in a spot he loved. Today I walked by to freshen up a scrape and the coyotes had tried to dig him out last night. They got pretty close, including ripping off a piece of the blanket he was wrapped in.
I filled the hole back up and took a large glass table off the deck and placed it over the site. I put a cell cam in a tree 15 feet away. The site is only 40 yards from my house and the .204 will be ready tonight when he, they, come back. Upstairs bedroom window has seen many a coyote get killed. Hopefully more to come soon.
Thank God for squirrels and chipmunks keeping me entertained this evening. Only deer I saw was a back shot while riding to where I drop off the quad.
Anyway it was great just to be out.
lol a buddy of mine down there has the same issue. He’s hoping to hook up with some Amish/Menonites that would be interested in whole bear if he happens to shoot one.
Good luck Rob. Ohio has some amazing deer. Few days at deer camp is pretty special. Looking forward to reading about your trip.
I think last years buck lived. Although they worked hard to recover it, they also didn’t find it dead after last years season if I’m correct.
You never know.
