We’ll, my youngest got his first bow kill / deer this am. Problem with the first shot, regrouped his thoughts, and with a little coaxing with the grunt call, he smoked him at 30yds. Nice to see that excitement. Now he’s ready for the big boys he said.
There’s give and take with all of the different setups giving you speed over energy etc. as someone mentioned you need to have the confidence more than anything. It’s been a few years but setting up bows for individuals was more of a “market advertisement” as they wanted that bow no matter what, didnt truly understanding what there getting for the money. Smoothness, speed, accuracy, deadliness and quietness all have to be balanced for the avg yardage you intend to shoot. Amazing seeing guys out on a 3D course with bows at 75+lbs that have a 6 inch brace height or shorter with the lightest arrows they can get away with and can’t be consistent past 30 yds. Some can muster it. Most can’t.
You might want to get some idea of pricing if your not doing it. I think I had like 500.00 into it but that was a few years ago. Wood from a project cost of having someone else do it might be considerably cheaper. Good luck what ever you choose.
Todd, I used the Seacast product. Bullet proof but definitely different than plopping a piece of wood down the slot and calling it good. I went with it just because I wanted it to be the last time I ever had to think about it again. Things I learned either by learning from the manufacturer or the hard way.
1. Dont do it during winter (unless you have heated garage)
2. Use spacers to keep the width consistent throughout the transom when pouring
3. Have another hand day of pour
4. More is better than running short
Price point is more than wood, I think Coosa board is about the same if not more. It’s about what you feel comfortable with as well.
Yep, you got it Bill. Keeps the copper wound up so when you pull out what you need, the victrola spring winds up so that when you catch a fish, it winds up the copper in the reel. You should of all people own one or two of these. Lol
So sad, sad for their friends, family and the tournament that had to go through that. They threw everything in the gutter, wish they could go back to other tourneys they stole from to pay back their winnings. Wouldn’t be upset if they both served time for it. All tourneys should use this as an example to show what can happen…….
Todd, your on point with the chainsaw. Just stay centered; stay away from the ends. Go slow and shallow strokes. Once your down about 12 inches keep trowling the center out. Keep your screw bolts on the edges and it will pop out either in pieces or as one. Your in the most difficult part. Everything seems downhill once you get it out.
Pete you could take an ohm meter dc volts to test what it’s putting out when you turn it on. They are usually 5-10 amps. Look for any inline fuses if you don’t see any voltage.
Fishstix, not sure if it’s tied but there has been some form of weed preventative that was dumped in the lake to control weed growth. Absolutely devastated the bass fishing on the north end. All the buzz lately on The Who what etc. interested in hearing more if someone knows more of the detail.
I’ve got the same type on my boat. Connects to my Noco charger for three Ionic lithiums. Some boats are running four batteries and using two chargers. Not uncommon
They had a batch of bad cable. I read some posts this spring about it which damn near almost made me go to braid when I bought new riggers. I didn’t and haven’t had any issues. Optimums. It’s kinda like if your a ford guy, buy that new truck and a month later get a recall. Do you switch to Chevy?
