  1. This time of year the fish most likely will be 70-100' or more deeper. Only way is riggers or divers and light tackle if it's what I'm thinking it is won't support those.
  2. I had trouble with mine doing that and it was a power issue
  3. I'm with Gill-T. I do catch a lot of fish on divers however I've had days where only the riggers fire and I'm sure others will testify to this. I'd leave the riggers.
  4. I too have bought many things on here and knock on wood never had a problem. A deal is a deal and should be honored as a gentlemen unless the buyer does not come thru in a reasonable amount of time and then, in my opinion the seller should keep a list of perspective buyers in order they responded and then sell to the next person. The good thing about this site is everyone is on top of something like this.
  5. Fishing out of Mexico Bay for many years I've learned if there is any sustained west wind around 15 it's iffy, over that probably not going to get out.
  6. X2 on what spoonfed said. Mine was also the Happy Troller on a 21' cuddy with a Merc outdrive. As I said earlier I used it for years and is still on the boat when I sold it. Never had any trouble from reverse pressure from prop or where/how it was mounted.
  7. Better off eating what was used to cook them
  8. I had one on my previous boat and never had a problem with handling and it did slow the boat down. The only thing I did was put stiffener braces on the back so it didn't bend. No issues with the outdrive and the boat is still in use. My current boat I have a kicker so no need for the plate.
  9. Should not be a problem as long as the wire going to the fuse panel is sized right to carry the demand/load needed. The only thing I have wired direct to the battery is the auto bilge pump.
  10. My holders are Berts. Can't complain one bit about them.
  11. The speed at the ball will vary depending on wind and currents. That's not that unlikely to be showing those numbers if you were going with wind and currents in the same direction. I'm guessing the numbers were much the same when you turned and went the opposite direction?
  12. Do you have the kickers locked down or in the free position. If locked they won't move easily enough to allow the rod to move them
  13. Yes pool noodles work great.
  14. My current boat was named B.O.A.T which I'm sure you all know what it stands for and holly crap did it hold true. I couldn't rename it fast enough.
  15. Thanks Pap, it does make it nice on those not so nice days.
  16. Sk8man you are correct, I did have to tweet mine though. However I did it on the trailer over dry land.
  17. I had a Panther remote steer on the boat. It was hard to get used to for others and honestly it was much easier using the EZ steer with the boat steering wheel. I still have the Panther as a back up but doubt I'll ever hook it back up
  18. As I said earlier I like the free sliders but sometimes I do fix them with the Offshore stacker release. It stays on the cable when the leader/slider pulls free and the swivel will slide to the bottom just like a free slider with a fish on it. There is no clip on the line.
  19. Mounting boards are easier on an I/O just because there's nothing in the way on the back. You could still do it with and outboard though. You have some ideas here but take some time and look at different pics of boats like yours. There's a "Let's see your rigs" thread in the Open Lake Discussion. Lots of different boats pictured in it. As the saying goes there's more than one way to skin a cat. Best of luck to you!
  20. I have all my insurance, house, vehicle, 2 boats thru the same company. My Lake O boat, a 23' Baha Fisherman costs me about $300.00 a year for year round coverage in/out of the water. This has one million liability, $100,000.00 personal injury each incident, $12,000.00 replacement and $4,000.00 equipment. $500.00 deductible.
  21. Not sure what style boat you have I/O, outboard etc but it's possible you could run a mounting board across the stern and mount everything to it.
  22. I've had 2 Cummings nets for 30 plus years and for the money I don't think you can beat them. The smaller net I also use in the stream and replaced the bag 5 years ago for less than $20 with shipping. Both have extendable handles, the larger reaches 10' and has a 36" hoop, smaller reaches 6' with. 24" hoop.
