  1. Well it's nice if surface speed is close to GPS speed however water displacement around the hull will cause the water to speed up so the main goal is to just duplicate down speed at which you catch fish at. Try putting probe about 10 feet down and see if it closer to GPS speed . I have multiple surface speed sensors such as GPS and paddle wheel so I can kind of average out all of them and adjust fishhawk accordingly for surface speed.
  2. if it was me I would go right out of Mexico point and fish the east and west side of the plant in tight and tight to the plant buoys. Alcan point is good as well look for some color and slightly warmer water . Fish sticks in tight and spoons slightly deeper . Good luck
  3. There is a setting in the programming to slow the tailfin down but that being said it's not ideal seeing the kicker rudder turns but main engine doesn't. So you end up with a lot of oversteering I am going to try two Amish buggy bags under the forward midship of the boat.I is supposed to make the bow stick and control wandering.
  4. I run weighted steel on that copper / lead core rod with no issues. It has a stainless tip and eye's.
  5. I use the church tackle inline boards and reverse forward clip so the board does not fall off with braid.
  6. Make sure when you strip black coating off rigger cable that you take a razor blade and scrape off clear coating that is on copper wire then solder electrical connector to end then attach the bolt the bolt.
  7. Thanks for the input guys ran the boat and tracked pretty well with kicker locked straight ahead . I figure in the wind and chop my be a little harder to control so decided to order a Talfin electro steer from powtran and use a wireless remote in conjunction with the helm .
  8. Looking for opinion on Panther t5 remote steering for kicker motor . Setting up a new pursuit 2865 with Volvo Penta outdrive and 9.9 Yamaha outboard and cannot link together do to offset. Does anyone use a t5 electro steer and do you like it or is steering with a remote a pain in the ass .
  9. Great catch please do your self and the fish a favor as the water gets warmer it is almost impossible to get released Lakers to go back down to depth . Buy yourself a sequelizer of Amazon for around 50 bucks and send them back down to the thermocline. I hate when I release a fish and do to air and heat exhaustion that can't go back down . Just set depth on sequelizer and send down on rigger it releases at set depth . Great job on some nice Lakers !👍
  10. 50 degree surface temp I would say the boy is nuts . Lol
  11. Caught 31 fish in a day and a half out of Mexico over a dozen lampreys on them . That's more than last three years combined not as good sign for things to come.
  12. I have had multiple slide divers cut two different brands of braid off very disappointing as they do catch fish but can't justify throwing 25 bucks away every other trip .
  13. Thanks everyone for the advice going to make some calls between buying a bigger boat and the charter insurance thing's are adding up fast.
  14. Looking for suggestions on insurance for a charter boat holding oupv 6 pack license. Just received this year's quote went up by 200.00 bucks for just liability insurance at this point its getting out of hand . Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  15. How bad was the oil spill? 😟
  16. I always run 4 riggers 2 off the corners at 45 degrees and 2 off the sides at 90 degrees . The 2 off the sides have wingers that cause them to glide away from the boat . I can still add in dipseys and boards without issues.
  17. Use a Duramax swivel 8 ft up leader and a good duolock snap and your good to go.
  18. The one I have works great !
  19. Good luck hope you snap out of it not everyone has a good experience with it .
  20. Hello and merry Christmas to all looking at buying a 25 foot camper that appears to be a great deal . I am afraid that if I can't find a reasonable place to put it for the season say may through September near Oswego / mexico that it won't get used . Anyone have any recommendations on reasonable priced campgrounds or someone with private property that would rent a spot for a fair price to a respectable person . I fish alot out of Oswego so would be nice to have a place to stay other then the cabin of my boat . Thanks
  21. Both fish relate to temp breaks that you can see and record on the surface it's like a vertical wall in the water fish along it and find witch side the fish like best .Then there's the thermal bar that's horizontal in the water when lake sets up fish above,in and below it .
  22. I dubbed my buddy the Cisco kid after he caught 2 of them.
  23. Did not stop Hunter!
  24. Had higher hopes for first trip to Oswego this year fished all over the inshore for browns from alcan to Ford shoals including the harbor. Was pretty tough fishing and combat fishing the harbor was a joke people really need to get a clue about working a trolling pattern with the rest of the fleet. Ended up landing 2 Brown biggest was10 lbs a 15 lb laker 2 whitefish and a 12lb sheephead .My buddy was bummed when he learned the monster Brown he was fighting was a sheephead.😁 All fish where caught off maglips off boards.5
