Fished Saturday morning out of Oswego, caught a couple nice 7 lb browns lost a couple, was rainy,cold,fog, my hands were numb. Felt like fishing in Alaska. Seemed best marks were close to the light house with a few charters trolling in and out of the harbor, which seemed weird. Didn't seem like there were tons of fish caught but didn't talk to anyone else. 1st trip to test out my Garmin ps-30 panoptix,,,will take some getting used to to figure out how it can help me. Long leads for browns didn't seem to tell me much except where the balls were.

Thank you! I was hoping someone would give a report out of Oswego. I’m heading there on May 12 for a three-day fishing trip with my father. We're targeting Browns, but I was curious if any Kings were there yet. Thanks for the report!

It is hard for panoptics or standard fish finders to show much when shallow water BT fishing.  If you really want electronics for that style of fishing try side imaging.  You may see some bait once in awhile but to be frank temp and watching your for birds or surface activity is really the key.  You may see a very occasional fish but dont rely strictly on your electronics when inside of 15ft.  There were bts around the harbor and in the corner to the east.  Panoptics will start to shine for you when you get out over 30ft of water.  Have a good season!!

We fished last week (April 27-May 3) in Mexico Bay from North Sandy pond to Nine Mile Point, both nearshore (8-15 ft) and offshore (130-150 ft) and had a tough week for catching fish. There were several fronts moving through during the week, changing air temps and wind direction/intensity led to tough fishing. We caught some fish when we got out, but not many! No salmon for us! We fished about 8 hrs on the days we could get out, but we didn't have much action. Couple browns were in the 8-10 lb range. Not many boats out and most days the Mexico launch had fewer than 10 trailers.

We fished Saturday morning and got soaked. We found three Atlantics but no browns. Atlantics were out in 19-24’ on smithwicks on boards.

Second hand info,

My buddy picked up a couple 10 pound browns out of Oswego on Tuesday.  He also noted that the weather was snotty, they had to get off the water early.  It seems that fish are there, just not easily caught.  I have no info on lures or depths, but when I saw the picture he sent I had to ask how much the fish weigher, they were obviously large fish.

Thank you! We will try it on Monday evening. If the fishing is bad and the reports aren’t much different, we are thinking about driving to Wilson on Tuesday to fish the bar. Thanks for the info!

Let us know how you do in Wilson,
I fished there once (late last June) with "SalmonBoy",

Three of us were limited out by 8:30.

The captain (forgot his name) told us that he chartered in both Mexico Bay and Wilson, and there is a world of diffence between the two;

Wilson being far superior.

We had heard the King salmon bite died off at the bar so we decided to stay in Oswego. We picked away at the Browns for a few days.
