Smallmouth fishing from Hamlin to Sodus Bay

Just wondering if anyone has been doing any smallmouth fishing on Lake Ontario from approximately Hamlin to Sodus Bay.  Years ago the smallmouth fishing use to be very good in that area of the lake but has not been very good as far as I know for the past 10 years or more.  Just wondering if anyone has any reports for smallmouth fishing in that area of the lake.  Thank you!

Wautoma still holds some great fish.

I can't speak to the area between Hamlin and Sodus but there are plenty of smallies on all the rocky points around Pulteneyville. 4 lbs is not uncommon. There are days that we can't keep them off our lines when trolling for Browns in the shallows. Especially from now through the fall.

When fishing Wautoma or Putneyville are we talking depths of 20-30 ft or deeper??

Years ago, Webster in front of Hedges was fantastic smallmouth fishing. I haven't seen anyone there since the goby infestation. I would be interested if anyone has tried it recently.

Find the rocky points and you'll find the smallies. We would run into them running the boat in 12-20 fow with lines running in 5 - 25/30 fow.

I fish the pipeline in front of the pump house west of Sandy maybe a mile or so . You can see it on your depth finder . It runs north . 10 to 20 ft or so I fish . Do well sometimes . Other times nothing . When it's clear water sometimes you can see it . Out front I see some humps In 25 to 35 ft . Never tried them for bass but I see fish on the bottom there . I jig mostly or dropshot when I do fish the lake . 

I only fished Watoma a few times with really no success . Allways wanted to go in front of devil's nose as there are some boulders there . 

 

I use to fish Sodus and Fair haven in the lake and drift 10 to 25 ft with buctail jigs . Some days was a beat down . Since Gobies and Zebras I went to my spot at Fair Haven and in 2 hrs never had a hit .

I fished Oswego Harbor 8/13. Covered both long break walls, and some areas back into the river. Zero smallmouth. I did catch a couple largemouth around docks. They disappeared about 25 years ago and haven't made a comeback yet.

This time of year they tend to go deeper and roam the lake .
