fish handeling tools

does anyone know where i can buy the fish handeling tool ive seen in some vidios ? it has a handle and a shaped rod to put through the gills and through the mouth of fish? it was on u tube with bowkill fishing out of the oak with his dad

That looks like a neat device if you are harvesting the fish. It will cause some gill damage, however . If you are photographing and releasing, the Boga grips, or the less expensive versions that clasp only the lower jaw, are a much better choice.

Not to take business from anyone, but you can make it yourself.

Just use 3/8 aluminum rod and bend it.

Just a thought.

It's real easy to make your own. I made a couple out of 1/4" diameter cold rolled steel (plated) from your local h'ware store. Wrap good old duct tape around one end to form a handle. Build it up to 1/2-5/8" diameter. If you have an old shovel handle hanging around, stick it in a vise, and bend the steel rod around it just past the tape. repeat the bend the same distance down the rod. Cut it off with a hack saw, and taper the end with a file.

Easy- speezie, done!!

I think the video you saw was mine on youtube. I got that at the A-tom-mik site and if you put it just inside the gill plate and out the mouth you should not have to many problems with damage to the fish. Her is a link to it http://www.atommiktrollingflies.com/holder.htm I think it was $10.

What's wrong with just a good old fashioned meat hook? Don't be afraid, reach up under there and grab a hold of some lower jaw cartilage. I think that's half the fun of Kings - there's something to get a hold of!
