I talked with a guy from US Fish & Wildlife once about distinctive markings on fish & he mentioned that there is software that will recognize individual fish, but it's not very good at it, as of yet. Facial recognition for fish?..hmmm, interesting

Pretty cool. Easiest recognizable marks on that fish for me are the “MT” on its cheek.

Do we now have to consider fish identity theft and privacy protection?

If the software could be perfected, maybe it could be an effective tool to supplement tagging studies.

I knew that Lake O had a gobie problem that was here to stay, but I didn't realize how many there actually were until I threw my camera in the water...   Brutal. I was surprised there isn't a ton of bass or pike or even carp picking these guys off. Do they feed on gobies?

Just got back from a few days at the Oak and happened to have the rare day with Atlantics.  My sons holding a 8.5, 7.5, and 6.5 pound Atlantic in the same morning.  Broke off what we thought was a larger one on a Lance Two Face after catching those three in the same vicinity.  Completed the day with kings to 25 + lbs, 2 steelhead and 3 browns.  Didn't have time to run offshore to find a coho though.     Inconsistent temps, currents and action for us during the week.  Fished 22' to 550'

    • Why is this a Tough Year for Salmon?

I am hoping to get theories from Charter Captains and Experienced Anglers as to why this has been a tough summer- June and July for Salmon. The reports I have seen, as well as my own experience shows this to be a hit or miss year with inconsistent results. It seems in May, reports were good unfortunately I was replacing the transom on my boat and could not get out until late May early June. Tough year. Why? Weather?, Current? Winds? Bait? Are the Salmon along the Canadian Border? I just seems to

    • Back at it 2019

After 8 weeks since a cervical fusion surgery I finally got the OK to get back in a boat yesterday morning. Had her ready, launched in the afternoon and called Kevin.   We fished the SLR 9 till 11 in really nice conditions, although you had to adjust for higher than normal current and be on the lookout for debris. Picked up 2 and lost a third half way to the boat. One of us got skunked but didn't really care because you realize just being part of it, after having it taken away, is more
