  4. I was told by some locals that it has to be the right water temperature for the rockies to run it. I have been fishing for them since 1993 over memorial day. I have been in a coat fishing for them and it has been 95 degrees. by far the last two years have been the worst. This year we only caught 15 keepers. We did manage to catch 75 small and large mouth.
  5. O I dont care about eating the cost. I was just curious if someone tried it before
  6. I think this is wishful thinking. Looks like most of the taxes arent really specific to a "road tax" although most of the revenue is used for highways and bridges etc. One could argue that your boat on a trailer uses the road but what about my mower? She uses a lot of fuel and doesn't use the road at all. =0)
  7. Nice fish! We did not fish Saturday but did get out on Sunday for a quick 2-3 hour trip. Left I-Bay and headed north, set up in 200’ and trolled to 330. Temp was 50-70’ down. Ran 2- 200’ coppers, 2- 300’ coppers, and 2 riggers. All took fish. 1 Steelhead and 4 Kings. Spoons- Hulk, 42nd, Watermelon, Chilly Willy, Spook, NBK. Will be out again Saturday morning for an all day affair. The smile on my sons face is priceless!

  10. I experienced the same. Not sure where the perch in the big lake would be but start looking on the points and work your way deeper.
  11. Funny thing though is boats have gone in and out since they pulled out the railroad tracks (or at least parts of them lol). The local options are limited.
  12. when gibbs ran braddocks bay marina they said they offer a ramp for the bay if you went out the channel it was on you
  13. Sorry for the late report. Got out with my brother and nephew both mornings out of Irondequoit. Saturday was a little bumpy and not a whole lot to report. We fished from 125 to 200 fow. We lost a couple small fish ( both under 5 lbs.) - one on a Mountain Dew flasher and fly on a dipsy, and another on a spoon fished off a rigger. We pulled lines about 10:30, just before the rain came in. We did lose a TX 22 planer board which somehow broke off one of our lead core rods. The line broke right at the rod, but we didn't hear any drag... a log? Stupidly, I didn't mark the way point. In the waves, and having to make a slow turn with lines in, we lost sight of it. Sunday the heavy fog rolled in just as we hit the water around 6:30. But only a little chop on the water, which was nice after Saturday. We set up around 125 fow with some other boats. We didn't see much, so we just pointed north, and eventually got out to 400 fow. Very few marks again, but we did manage a small king and our best-on- boat 11 lb steelhead caught by my nephew. Both fish taken on spoons fished off riggers in the top 40 feet. The steelhead took a caramel dolphin. Once the fog lifted somewhat, we pointed south into 140 fow and pulled lines about 11. Other boats seemed mostly scattered and in search mode like us. Always great to be out on the water with family. Hopefully can give it another try in a few weeks. Thanks to everyone posting and sharing info.

  16. Pretty sure Braddocks isn’t considered a navigable waterway hence it falls on the marina owners, Gibbs and Danielleys to keep it open.
  17. Pappy - I am interested in your boat. Please message me.
  18. Was filling up my dad's boat this weekend (onshore), and was approached by a gentleman who asked an interesting question. He asked, "since that isn't being used for road use, how do you write off the additional road tax added to the price?". (He was a retired CPA and was curious). He had a point as we used to do this when filling up snowmobiles years ago at certain gas stations. So, for the weekend warriors who fill up onshore, is there a legal way to write off the road tax on gas used in boats?
  19. Unfortunately, till people stop giving them money to slip their boat there it may never change. I don’t get it, people having issues in that channel ruining lower ends for years, but still use it. Unless they dredge yearly, that channel is not suitable for bigger boats.

    Lake Erie Bite 2024

Heading to Small Boat Harbor in Buffalo this weekend for the first time ever to troll for some eyes. Anyone have a starting depth? Bringing boards and 2 to 7 color lead cores. I have both a variety of sticks both shallow and deep and harnesses. Thanks for any feedback.
  21. Good news lets hope the weather conditions are right.
  22. The mounting plate is definitely the way to go two holes and sealed with the above mentioned calk and never look back. Twenty two years on mine and still great. An upside to it is also the option to either move the transducer for better positioning, or to add other transducers etc. in the future.
  23. I've used Stern Savers on a couple of aluminum boats without any problems. 9 years for the one, 11 for the other.
  24. Depending on weather it could be slower but might still be OK....Oswego or Mexico is probably a better option that time of year.
  25. I would mechanically fasten and then seal with lifecaulk, or 4200 - have done it a million times and you won't have any issues with water intrusion and its solid. Both LIfecaulk and 4200 are rated for below waterline applications. Do not use cheap silicone or caulk from Lowes...
