  2. i have been using ugly stiks for 40 years, from spinning rods to 8'3" and 9'0" for rigger rods and board rods and 10' for divers and copper and weighted steel. (big water series) now i use the newer 9' ml for the riggers (a little more backbone than the light action, but not too much) the only difference i have noticed between the old and new models is the guides. i have never had a failure with any of them. hope this helps. tight lines for your choice on a new one.

    Rock bass

Fished Oak Orchard Creek out of Captains Cove at the bridges Wednesday. Headed up creek south/southwest toward Waterport dam. Caught many nice rockies, perch and bluegills. Fishing around downed trees with purple bent wire fuzzy jigs, 11 year old Grandsons homemade flies and trout magnets, all tipped with a piece of worm. For real fun try a cane pole to reach into the tangles where you can't cast. For the gar fisherman there are packs of them cruising all the shorelines. Must be spawning. Never saw so many gar. Some I'd estimate pushing 40 inches.
  4. I have always used 8' or longer ML downrigger rods and never had one that was too stiff for my riggers. a rod you should really check out is the Daiwa GX2 ugly stick med action on these rods are limber enough for riggers. but a light action might be a better option for you but not needed. I just took a quick look on eBay and 1 listing is for 3 light action 9' rods for 95.00 and free shipping.
  5. Do you still have that broken AP14 helm unit by chance?? Need some parts out of one and have been searching the internet for parts. Would be willing to buy it from you..
  6. you will be so much better off with lithium. they run much longer and can be discharged much lower than lead/acid batteries. they do cost more but shop around at places like Amazon before you buy.
  7. have you removed the lower screw and checked to see if any water or milky grease came out? if just lower unit grease comes out close it up and put more grease in to make sure if it's low. I have had outdrives have what looks like the same thing but it turned out to be nothing but exhaust scum and water.

  14. As Chinook said , it's probably the shift shaft seal or upper driveshaft seal but a pressure test will tell for sure. It could be the lower driveshaft seal under the pump but that would normally show itself in the water intake or out the prop area with the drive down. If the upper input yoke seal was leaking you would only see it in the bellows as said above.
  15. I Came across this in an old Garmin monochrome GPS I had in the basement. I realize it's almost 30 years old but if someone can use it it's yours. I Just thought I would throw it out there before I tossed it. I'm located in Penfield NY. Just drop me a PM.
  16. Just put a new 20hp yamaha on my 1991 Tracker DeepV does anyone have a throttle control like the ConTrollking or TrollMaster that works with EFI motors?
  17. Last year it was in June and the gun club was pretty full. This years attendance was terrible. Probably because I knew guys that were gone for the derby. Maybe that was part of the reason.

  19. If the drive shaft seal is leaking , the gear oil will be contained in the drive shaft bellows and you may see it in the bilge if it gets past the gimbal bearing. No way will you see it as an external drip unless the bellows is torn or punctured.
  20. impressive laker,congrats!!!
  21. Should I get a look lead acid battery or should I go the extra money for lithium? Not something I’m going to use every day once in a while never had a trolling motor so I don’t know.
