I had my deeper riggers 15-30 ft back and fished anyweres from 30-170 ft down they did not take any hits. My higher rigger was 40 back and that took 1 steelhead 30 ft down. I wanted to run a spinny down deep off the rigger but didnt get the chance to. Mite be out again off sandy towards the weekend or am gona work on the boat. Im leaning towards cleaning and working on the boat.

Left the pierheads today with a south wind in the forcast around 6:15 and ran out to 60-70 fow and found a decent screen but decided to set up a little deeper and work deeper today. Fished from 90 out to 220 on a NW towards the ponds and came back to the river in 100 ft. A decent pick up top for steelhead and coho if your targeting them. We were interested in kings today but left a couple rods available up top to keep us busy. Ended up 5 for 6 with 4 steelhead up to 6 pounds and a 4-5 pound coho. The 2 color core pulling a Craigs Steelhead SS took 4 hits, Stinger Irish Car Bomb took the the bigger steel and the coho ate a dalmation spinny pulling and ultra glow green Atommik Fly out 120 on a 2.5 setting. The most productive water we found was between 110-170 fow fishing the top 40. Decent temp break down past 80 ft but to no avail for kings. Maybe we should have fished the screen we had inside today? who knows Im heading back to Wilson this weekend and cant wait . The fish seem very scattered, just need to put your time in, cover the water column and cover water. Good luck to all that get out.

2 in a row works great, if that doesnt work, run 3 in a row. The coated cable sometimes slides a bit but 3 takes care of that problem, and it protects my probe from coming out of the water.

That is a good starting point, but the best part about those otter board is you can adjust them with the knot placement. Start with those measurements and if you are runnin your coppers off of them you mite want to shorten that back end measurement to have them pull out to the sides more. You will be happy with them either way. If those measurements dont work, I can measure mine but i forgot what I adjusted them to from the factory reccomendations.

I think your right on the smallmouth bass, I have taken 2 this year while trolling inshore and both were 4+ pounders!! Hopefully we see more of em and in better numbers!

I have caught a few on Hemlock in the 5-6 lb range trolling the shoreline. They are aggresive and can be taken casting the shoreline also on small spinners tipped with mister twisters or mister twisters alone off a jig head.

Ray, Nice Report, That must have been a blast being solo. Im glad to see the numbers of cohos up also, I have seen the same sizes you were talking about for coho, many 2-3 lbers with a few 4-5lberss mixed into them. Got any pictures of the larger brownies?? and your magic stick baits. haha

I had the same issues before they upgraded me to the newer stronger servo, Great service, fast response in standing behind their product. Its hard to find companies like this but I second your experience with them, they are top notch.

This was from monday-but wanted to post Had a full day trip planned for 2 return clients from last season on the monday after Easter. Lines set and fishing by 7 am out of Irondequoit we headed up the shoreline towards shipbuilders working 8-12 fow with stickbaits off the boards and spoons on the riggers. After an hour of dialing them in we starting popping fish all the way towards webster park. Firetiger and black and silver rogues were hot along with black spotted stingers in chrome and gold off the riggers back 10 down 4 and back 20 down 8. The father and son were having a blast on smaller browns and cohos around the 3-5 pound mark. I worked out to a little deeper line hoping to produce some larger fish, the 10-18 fow mark and instantly doubled up with a couple solid browns with one being around 8 and the other being around the 10 pound mark. Around 11 oclock we were 10 for 14 and we locked up again with another double for the father and son! Sweet this is turning out to be a great day! One fish being a nice brown and the other a rainbow off the rigger. The father landed a 9 pound brown and stumbled back to his seat without asking for a picture or talking. I asked my first mate who was driving for me to see if he was ok? Well it turns out he was having heart pains and having a heart attack! With rods still out and his son fighting a fish I asked if his dad would be ok? His son replied he should be, he just needs to take his nitro pills. Well his pains got worse and after a few minutes I had my first mate dial 911 and tell them we will be at webster park in 5 minutes. After inspection the nitro pills were out of date and werent helping. Like a Nascar pitcrew I broke down the spread- 2 riggers and 6 planer board rods along with the otter boards and began heading towards webster park which we had luckily just passed by a 1/4 mile while trolling. With the lack of dockage at webster park I pulled the boat up next to the wheelchair platform in between the rocks in some rough seas on the pier and some nearby fisherman were nice enough to help stablize my boat so it wouldnt get to abused by the rocks and cement. The ambulance and police were allready walking towards the pier when we tied up, quick reponse time to say the least. He was still stable but had bad chest pains when the medics started to treat him. They worked on him for 15 minutes and then we positioned him onto a backboard and had to lift him out and onto the pier in 2 ft rollers tossing us against the pier. They did a great job and stabilized him enough to get him on the stretcher and off to rochester general. It was a relief to have him in good hands on the way to a good hospital with the company of his son. My friend and I after being shaken up a bit from the whole experience pushed off and took the boat out to safe water to straighten out the boat and put things back in order. We decided to fish our way back to Ibay fishing 4 rods and ended up with some even more great fishing with 2 double headers on big browns along with bunch of cohos! I think our final tally including the morning was 22 for 31 with 10 coho, 1 rainbow and the rest brown trout with 6 browns being over 8 pounds and 1 slob at 14 pounds 33 inches. Around 5 pm I got a call from his son in the hospital and told me that his father ended up having another heartattack in at the hospital. They had to do a cathterization of his heart and found it to have a 90% blockage in the main artery. They were able to give him 2 stints to hold open the arteries and got him stablized and on his way to a recovery. I owe some thanks to the authorites and medical personal that aided in the saving of his life!! Staying cool under pressure was key, along with the quick thinking and a fast response from 911. I dont know what I would have done if we were further out from shore. Here are a few pictures from the day One of the double headers Im sure I left out some of the days events but I tried to keep it short. This was a very humbling experience reminding me that I have other peoples lives in my hands. This time it had a happy ending and Im extremely thankful. I feel your pain, I hate when that happens. I had that happen at West Marine in Irondequoit a 40 minute drive for me. "Sorry we dont have that part." Cripes! Glad you found a better deal through the dealer!

I agree with guy- The double uni is a solid knot, once you have done it once or twice it becomes second nature. Also good for 2 different diameters of mono, light line or heavy.

Very curious jimski on this set up, are these your same downriggers you have mounted of the back of your boat? Id like to see how you set your rods up when running them off your rigger, This isnt something I would ever do but im curious to see some pictures or hear more about it. Thanks

A quick thing you can try before the cable, lubricate that slide that is in front of your engine with marine grease and turn the wheel back and forth till it loosens up, if thats not the fix then I would reccomend the steering cable get replaced also, it should be around 120-150 bucks for the replacement. If you are considering an autopilot this would be the time to make that decision! You can do it yourself for cheap just make sure you get the right cable...... If is rack and pinion or rotary West Marine should have your cable in stock, if not they can order it for you

If im not running my big boards, I love my church boards, very durable and adjustable with the keel weight for pulling leadcore, and snapweights. The only drawback I have with the church boards is they are not reversible, meaning one is for port, one is for starboard. The older Willies are great, and are reversible, but the ones on the big jon site have a plastic arm that snaps fairly easily, the original older Willies had a one piece steel arm with a cotter pin design compared to the plastic. I keep a willie on board in case I lose a church.

Thats where I get my work done is up at Ras Outboard. They do great work, and wont BS you. That is a little steep for me to swing right now but I appreciate the info.
