  1. Shakesam, THey have been doing good on kings and the occasional trout right off the pierheads and in the lower river. J-plugs in silver and green glow have been good. Further offshore has been very slow and unstable because of the wind.
  2. I'm a big fan of Penn Yan boats. Yes they are out of business but there are still some great finds around. They were made in the area and are built to suit the salmon angler. No matter what brand, make sure you get a marine survey.
  3. I have had some clickers go on my sealines. 8 are 16 years old. I have replace 3 clickers on the 16 year old reels with in the last 2 seasons.
  4. Fish deeper that 125. 155 -180 was my best depth for years off of I-bay. Fish between Shipbuilders and Hedges. Keep the ball 1 or 2 feet from the bottom. The closer the better.
  5. Glad my boat is 22'. P.S. it does not matter if they are Democrat or Republican, they are all crooked.
  6. Run offshore and fish steelhead. It is a sure bet. Staging kings can be a very first light bite and done with the full moon.
  7. I vote for what we have now. I like the variety of bring able to catch kings, coho, atlantics, steelies, browns and lakers.
  8. Nice Atlantic Jammer. I got it's twin yesterday off of Sandy Creek.
  9. Look in the reports section and look for reports from the port you are fishing. The further offshore the better (usually). NBK, Gators, Chickenwing, and froggy glow are some of my favorites.
  10. I run the Diawa Heartland Medium downrigger rods 8'6" 12 - 20lb. test.. Here is the model number - HL-D862MS-G
  11. Nice report Bear. Those bigger kings were hard to find today off of Sandy. Good luck this weekend.
  12. Diawa Sealine SG47lca's on Diawa Heartland 8'6" rods. THe reels run around $100.00 each and the rods are around $30.00 each. I have run the sealines for many years and they are quality reels.
  13. Only in the winter to make the run to the Salmon River hatchery so we can gets eggs for next years fish.
  14. I buy 1" clear tubing and cut it about 1" longer than the fly. Cut slots in each end of the tube. Insert leader through tube and wrap leader end to end on the tube placing leader in the slots you cut. I will post a pic if I can remember tomorrow.
  15. I tie a perfection loop to all my flies and add a heavy duty snap to the back of the flasher. Works great. It is a lot easier to change flies also.
