  1. Hasky, If you are looking for land, the Sandy Creek (Hamlin, Hilton, Kendall) area is nice. Lots of land near great fishing. The Oak is nice but we have more of a variety of fishing. You can hit up the Greece ponds for panfish, pike, bass and walleye, or Braddocks for pike and bass, or head out on Lake Ontario for trout and Salmon. I can go out of Sandy and catch kings, coho's, browns, steelhead and Lakers all in the same areas. Most ports it is hard to find consistant catches of all species in such a tight area. I used to keep my boat in Irondequoit Bay. Most of the time, I could find browns in 50 - 80, lakers in 135 - 180 and the kings, steelhead and cohos would be out in 500' of water.
  2. I wish I would have known it was him. I would have stopped by and talked at the dock. If this salmon stuff is too hard for him, I could teach him how to catch lakers!!!
  3. I think that unit has to be in the water to work. I'm not 100% sure. Try a new 9 volt.
  4. We need some of those in Lake O! That would be fun.
  5. I run a Uglystick 10' dispy rod on the outside and a Gander Mountain Guide Series 9'6" on the inside (2 off of one side) The Ugly stick is a broom stick but the Guide Series rod is awesome. I purchased them this march and they are only $19.99 each. You can't beat that price. All they need is a twillie tip.
  6. Diawa Heartland 8'6". They are around $30 each. If you run them off of regular plainer boards, they are great. If you run inlines, they are a little light. I have been running Diawa rods for many years and they have been flawless. As a side note, my father used to use the Eagleclaws and threw them all away because he had problems with them breaking.
  7. I use a rubber band to keep my cheaters fixed. Leave them out in the sun for a while so they break easy. I highly recommend fixed cheaters over sliders. You know where your fixed cheater is when you catch a fish and you can duplicate it every time. Sliders will change depth with speed change and the amount of tension on the rod.
  8. btfc1752, I would recommend fishing kings first. Then around 11 am when the king bite slows, switch over to lakers. Don't listen to Yankee Troller, He is just mad because he can't get lakers to bite!
  9. You know what I mean. When the fishing is slow, some guys get on the radio and chit-chat or tell jokes.
  10. Tom, I keep it on 72 unless the fishing is slow and everyone is running their mouths on the radio. Mikejonestkd, Sorry, I will not be out tomorrow. I have to work. I will probally be out on Wed., Thurs., or Friday. If you guys are out on any of those days, give me a shout on the radio. My boat name is escape.
  11. Rick, This just goes to show you that you should give up that bass fishin'!
  12. I always run multiple flashers in my spread. I usually run at atleast 2 Spin Doctors. I let the fish tell me what setting they like. I start the day off running one on the less action setting and one on the more action setting. What ever one fires more, I will change. The days when both are firing, leave them alone.
  13. Hands Down it is Sandy Creek!
  14. That was me Tom. How did you make out? Do your self a favor and pick up 3 more wire rids. I started running 4 wires this season and it is awesome. The only thing that sucks is pulling in 4 wires to clean the fleas off.
  15. Fished in front of the creek to the nose in 170 - 200 and then moved in closer (90 - 120) at the end of the day. We finished the day with 8 kings (14-23lbs.) 2 steelies, and one laker. The fish were taken 65 - 70 down out deep and 50-60 down in shallower. Cut bait and Spin Doctors, stinger NBk mags and Stingrays and Echip flashers with the Packer Attomik flies were the top producers. Had a ton of knock offs and dropped fish. We had 12+ drops. Mostly short rips on the wire and no one home. Killed 4 lampreys. One of them was stuck to the anus of one king. That was not pretty.
  16. Fished From the Pump House to Watoma and ended up boating 7 kings and one steelhead. Had tons of knock offs and no one home. Most of the knock offs came on the cut bait rigs. had on king for 35 minutes and lost it at the back of the boat. The first run on that fish was 560' off of the rigger. The fish were pretty much scattered between 110- 180. I found a very nice screen while I was picking up in 90 - 100. Oh well. They might be there next time.
  17. The Canadian waters are just across the river. It is not that far at all.
  18. I used to fish the Cedar Point area a lot when I was a teenager (10-12 years ago). Get a Canadian license and fish the back side of Wolf Island. We used to go around across right across the river from Cedar Point camp grounds. We trolled outside the weedlines with Thunderstick Jr's in 18 - 25 fow. We would get largemouth, smallmouth, walleyes and northerns. We did see a couple of muskies caught over the years. Good luck!
  19. I wish mine was. I took it off last night to send back AGAIN to get repaired. The moron told me last time there was nothing wrong with it and it did not work when I got it back. So off it goes to Raymarine again.

  21. Sampos or Spros are the only 2 brands I use. I'm not exactly sure on the size off hand.
  22. Go with the Diawa Sealines or the Shimano Tekotas. Don't waste your time with the Okuma Magdas. They are cheap reels and notorious for drag problems (and other problems). The Convectors are ok reels. 1000' of stainless 7 strand wire will fit on a Diawa SG47LC with room to spare. I have run the Sealines for 12+ years and have no complaints.
  23. Malin 7 strand 30 lb ss wire in a 1000' spool. Wires take a lot of fish. Make sure you buy high quality swivels for your wires. I learned the hard way when I first purchased my wires. Good luck!
