  1. Brian. That setup sounds workable, but be aware that once the fleas start the braid won't cut it. Work towards 4 wires and your depths will be more predictable also.
  2. Thanks for the Captains Cove info. I was going to order one from Coldwater Tackle but their shipping cost was $31.00 for basic rate. And no one answers the phone to explain why.
  3. Any suggestions who would do a quality installation on a thru-hull transducer. I'm shopping right now for a 585 or 587 w/ the B60 or SS60 and I'm on a trailer in Rochester. Kevin
  4. Right on with that. Surface speed and temp is needed for spring browns. As the fish move offshore, as bandrus said, down speed and temp is more important than a FF. However alot of fish are caught out of temp so don't get too focused on preferred temps. I think I just contradicted myself.
  5. Our experience showed a big difference. Especially with the copper.
  6. Heh Duke. Can I ask what you paid for the diver. Or shouldn't I ask.
  7. If you know any sheet metal guys or tinknockers they can punch you out a set. $70.00 is crazy.
  8. I am also interested in a new sonar and have considered the 585. Hopefully there will be some feedback to your question. There usually is not a lack of opinions on equipment.
  9. Check out that wiring on the Cabo. Top notch quality boat. Please remove shoes before entering engine room.
  10. You did better than we did.We checked the screen from outlet out to 90 ft and saw nothing, and had no down temp. Saw boats off river and decided to try power trolling. Out came the j-plugs. Very boring till the waterspout formed just offshore from us. Tried to get decent pic but it broke up pretty fast. Saw the one trying to form off Webster, very close to shore. Oh by the way, 0 fer 0.
  11. I'll take a shot at 37.5 entered at Woodys in Pulaski. And it won't be mine.
  12. I think the auto-pilots are to blame. Most times when I've been cut-off there is no one at the helm.
  13. I also will be contacting you with an order. I heard you might be fishing this weekend on the Jammer boat. If so, Good Luck. Kevin
  14. Check out the Okuma Clarion. I've got a Convector 55 and a Clarion high speed for my coppers and much prefer the Clarion. I do run my 300' off a Church 44 board sometimes when conditions allow (calm) and have had no problems.
  15. "ontherise"]Dropped fish isn t the captains fault...Bruce runs an outstanding operation. I'll second that
  16. Heh Steve, was that sheepie the target species that day. And Bruce, I was trying to call you Sat. AM on the phone cause that was me crowding you on the inside in 50 FOW. Sorry if I got to close. The browns were very distracting. Kevin
  17. I agree that they wiil be just fine. I'm looking for a pair of 10 1/2's to run two divers on each side with my 8 1/2er's.
  18. Had a good brown bite off of Shipbuilders in 70-90 FOW. We had a fishing derby at our I- Bay Fish & Game Club and tried to put a brown in the money. Got 3rd with a 11.3lber. Landed 14 others in 2 hrs. 0630-0830. Headed offshore for big boys and had no trouble hooking up but not so good boating em. Went 5 fer 10, nothing big.
  19. I'll keep an eye open for him. Don't recognize the name. What length approx.
  20. For what it's worth my Clarion 55 wouldn't take 900ft power pro and 500ft #45 copper. Although it was close.
