  1. Thanks for the report Chris. Like you said even the bad reports can help. Would have done the same thing if able to get out this AM. Talked to a buddy fishing west between Russell and one of the pond outlets and was doing good. Some of the river captains were in there to. Kevin
  2. Nice!!! Launching 2morrow AM. See you on the water
  3. Harvey makes the torpedo style or ball with a fin. I just bought 2 16 lb. torpedos from him at the Watkins Glen flea market. Give him a call.
  4. The problem with the heat shrink tubing over the swivel is not only what Legacy said, but it's way to easy to give the tubing to much heat to shrink it. You can easily melt the flourocarbon leader even with a heat gun and no open flame.
  5. Wiring to a fuse block should not be a problem as long as you feed the fuse block with a good marine gauge wire like a #8 or #10. Looking at the pic, you might try to run your motor feeds inside the hardtop tubing to the fuse block. PM me if you have any other questions. Kevin
  6. Made the drive to Watkins Glen yesterday AM for the FL show, in spite of the crappy driving, hoping to see some big flocks. The visibility was 1/4 mi tops and over Seneca was even worse. Not a good scouting day. Spent money at the show. Felt better.
  7. Good article in the NY Outdoor News about the die-off. Not only are the birds starving but many are losing their water shedding ability which stresses them even further.
  8. Heh Tony, how's everything. For 5 years I ran a Garmin combo unit, 545 S model, when in split screen just didn't make it cause of screen size. Last year sprung for a Furuno 627 FF and now run GPS only on the Garmin. Their GPS software is top notch and updates are free on website. I've updated 2X since I bought it. Good luck! Kevin
  9. Another vote for the Heartlands. Bought 2 last year. Mine are HLD-DD 962H 9ft 6in. Very good value. Stay away from the Eagle Claws. They make nice goose flag poles.
  10. Thanks Tim & shadrapper for the tip on the 1116's. Just the kind of info I was looking for. Looks as tho they're about $100 cheaper. Still searching around for the best deal. Now I got $100 to spend on lures.
  11. I'm looking to add a third rigger to run down the chute. One that can handle a 15lb or heavier weight. Anybody have any comments on the Scotty 2106 HP. It's got everything I'm looking for and it would be easier to pull the trigger to buy if it got good reviews from this post. I've got 2 Big Jons now but don't want to buy their Brute model to handle the weight. Thanks Kevin
  12. Thanks Chas. You won't be unhappy with either of those choices. Check out Hydra-Sport also. Kevin
  13. Sky Carp ? Haven"t heard that one before. Nice going Matt.
  14. YEOW. I'd say that is worth the ride. Are ATVs needed or can you hike to the fish Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Bit the bullet and got one this June after using one in a buddies boat. Well worth it for all the above reasons. There was a thread about Bogas several months ago. Give it a search. Capt. Vince is right on about not cheaping out on a knock-off. I found the best deal on E-Bay.
  16. Well I guess if the Air National Guard can donate a drone to the eastern basin then what's a couple of X4's donated off I-Bay. Jeff have you considered trying braid for downriggers? Just askin.
  17. WWGD. Thats perfect. Heh Jammer Steves got some knotted up cable he prefers when running X4's Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Heh Tony. There is a private RV campground on Wellesley down towards Fineview. I think it's called Sea Island Resort. There are docks on the south shore of Wellesley. with a launch. Not sure if still open. Good luck. Kevin
  19. All is well here using Firefox. Have had the problem on other computers, but not sure if they're using Int Exp.
  20. Heh Dan. That looked like Larry's boat. Good luck with the new ride.
  21. See you in the spring Larry. We also did the river troll without moving a rod. Made a pass in front of I-Bay then headed west in 30-50 fow. Didn't mark much till off Van Lare. Stayed away from the pier heads where other boats were, but probably where the fish were. Didn't see any FISH-ON. Marks were scattered. Put up with the 2-3 ft rollers till 1130 and called it. Gonna try for browns this week.
  22. I was thinking the same thing. Beautiful fish. Gonna try 2morrow (Fri) AM. Thanks for the report.
