  1. Incredible that a buck would be that far out. Was that some velvet coming off the antlers or something else? BTW, nice fish too!
  2. This was in the Fingerlakes Times Newspaper today!!
  3. Yes, very peaceful place with minimal boat traffic. We really enjoy that campground so will bring the boat again. I'm still a novice fishing Ontario so any water time is great for the learning curve.
  4. Camping this weekend at Golden Hill State Park and brought the boat along to spend some time on the water. Nice launch area but a little surprised when going through the channel into the lake there was excessive mud/sediment build up in the center so had to raise the prop a bit. On an evening trip so stayed inside setting up at 150. Meandered out almost to 300 before turning back in. The lake was flat as no significant wind, yet when zigzagging the boat speed varied up to 3/4 mph when going West/Northwest vs East/Northeast. Must be some strong current moving through there. Screen had occasional bait pods and rare fish marks, most down 75 to 125. Coming back in at 180 fow found some very acrobatic steelhead. Hits were on spoons off the riggers down 75 and 95. Dipseys with flies never fired. One last heavy fish gave my wife 10 minutes of entertainment before it finally broke off. A beautiful evening to be on the water.
  5. Looking for recommendations on someone who does fiberglass boat detailing in the Finger lakes region but willing to drive for getting nice work done.
  6. The picture says it all. Cayuga has you hooked now......Congratulations!!
  7. Looks like those youngsters had a blast!!
  8. Sounds like you fished most of the day to get on them. Your patience and persistence is admirable. As always, way to get it done.
  9. I asked the same question in This Old Boat tab back in November 2019. This comparison table was submitted so hopefully it helps you decide. There is a significant difference in costs between units. I ended up going with Control King as simple with no extras worked for me.
  10. I tried a coho setup on Cayuga this Spring with a yellow 6" Spin Doctor and a trailing Howie fly. It caught a couple Lake Trout, but no Silvers. When Cayuga Lakers are hungry, sometimes I think they will attack anything you put in the water ......
  11. Nobody likes losing their hat......Try the Wind finder app. I like that you can get a real time map showing wind speed and just as important, wind direction. As we all know, conditions can change in a hurry, but it's nice to have up to the moment wind info. BTW, Nice catch!!
  12. Sounds like you had a great week. Getting out on the water before sunrise or at sunset is a beautiful and peaceful time. Thanks for sharing the photos!
  13. Isn't it great when you get to that point where you ALMOST say, "Please fish leave us alone". Fishermen's Nirvana......when I die I hope God sends me there!! Great stuff, thanks for sharing
  14. Welcome to Summer fishing..... Weed pods seem to float around completely random . At least on a slow fishing day if a line hits one you get an instant of excitement thinking a big fish is on!!
  15. Great fish, and there is definitely added satisfaction to getting the job done Solo!
  16. Looks like you found some good fishing! Past couple years the fleas have been bad on Cayuga for about a month from mid June to mid July, then they tail off some. Even with preventative line it seems like you need to check lines out every 20-25 minutes as definitely no fun having a nice fish on and you can't enjoy reeling it in.
  17. Nice! I thought you had gone exclusively kayak. Gave your legs a break from pedaling today. Thanks for reporting!
  18. Beautiful fish. You absolutely own that lake!! Congratulations!
  19. I love that idea. Gotta do that some day just because........
  20. Sounds like a great quick trip!! I'm just starting to tinker with slide divers. When you say 100 foot lead is that from spoon to diver? I ran a slide last week on Cayuga set 60 feet from lure to diver in 50 fow. but then started wondering about how much play was there with such a long leader. It attracted at least one laker which was not exactly what I was hoping for but a fish is a fish.... Are you using flouro leader or mono and what lb test? Thanks!
  21. Nice job fishing and I'm with you on the pie. Our rhubarb patch has been yielding well this Spring. Sometimes wishing dessert could be the Appetizer!!
  22. Looking like Andy should get a commission!
  23. Thanks for the info. Memorial weekend Cayuga temps were 57-58 on the surface so it's changing quickly
  24. Welcome aboard! Great picture. Thanks for posting
