i am assuming this is a flush mount rod holder.you can use a hole saw,but they can be a pain to use,especially with aluminum or just a drill and a jig saw or sawsall.trace the hole where you want it,drill a hole big enough to get your jig saw blade through and cut it out.before drilling CHECK UNDER THE GUNWHALE!!!!for wires and steering cable.also,figure out which way you want it to point,you can mount it so your rod is straight behind the boat or off to the side and always use stainless steel hardware.i also like to silicone holes when i drill through anything.i know you got them for a present,but you would be much better off with a piece of track and surface mount rod holders,they are much more versatile.good luck

pulled the boat today and when i got her on the trailer i saw that i had a broken spring.im hoping the marina can fix it,if not,does anyone know who does springs in the mexico area?

i have twins that each sit on s.s. transom brackets.this spring i pulled one of the tops off and found that they are filled with foam,but the foam is water logged.looking to find out if there is somewhere in western ny area that would would re-foam them or if there is a place to buy that i can do it myself.

i wouldnt use any plastic rod holder for king fishing on lake o.they will not hold up and it sucks watching rood a reel go to the bottom,trust me,im talking from experience.im assuming you must be fishing the finger lakes with smaller dipsies cause i dont know of anyone that could hold on to a dipsy set up all day.if you are gona fish for kings on lake o.spend the extra money and buy aluminum ones.also,make sure what ever you mount them to,can handle the pressure too..

headed to the same area as yesterday,bait was there but couldnt get anything to go,so after a couple hours pointed west and kept on going.got out to 500 fow and turned and headed in towards alcan.got to about 450 fow and screen started looking good,mostly bait,but some fished mixed in.trolled between 400 and 450 fow,lots of bait but only managed 2 small kings.had a few knock offs.again all spoons.think thats it,unless something changes by next weekend.was a slow but consistent year,had lots of fun,fished with some great people,already looking forward till next season!!!!!

Same here,fished same area as capt rich,same results,we stayed out longer though with nothing to show for it.fish shut off around noon.went 3 for 7 with a bunch off knock offs.2 small kings and 1 3 lb steely.if you are looking to move rods,it seems like the way to go,but nothing to get to exited about.make sure you lighten up your releases!!!!!!we will be back out there tomorrow and that will be it for the season.

catfish creek in mexico bay?????

weather looks good,we will be out,may be the last one for the season for us.

i dont have much to compare to,as this was only our second full season fishing the lake,but it was alot tougher fishing than compared to last year.we fish mexico bay area.there was a good amount of fish off the plant end of june and most of july and then they were gone!!!!end of july and all of august you really had to hunt for them and when you did find them it was tough getting them to go.what worked yesterday wouldnt move the next day,so you were really having to work for them.im sure the seasoned veterans that have been fishing the lake alot longer then us had better results.the other thing that kept catch rates down for us was for a long time this summer temp was down well over 150 ft.we only fish 2 riggers,so take your copper and dipsies out of the equation and you have alot less baits in the water.as far as the size of fish,we caught more 10 to 20 lb fish this year compared to last year.last year most of the fish we caught were over 20 lbs.it was frustrating at times this year,but it still was alot of fun and fished with alot of good people.boat isnt out yet,but already looking forward to next year.

if you are looking for t.v. coverage,here on time warner cable you have rush outdoors hunting and fishing show.i have seen them cover salmon fishing on lake ontario.

i would add a few more things.even though you are using non-ethanol fuel,i would still add stabilizer to the fuel,i also like to fog the motor and when you are all done running it,spray the whole motor down with wd-40 and dont forget to grease all fittings.as far as the impeller,i like to change them every other year just for a piece of mind,its fairly inexpensive,especially if you can do it yourself.
