My wife and I hunted a popup blind this morning. 2 Tom’s and 3 hens appeared out 300 yards. Came our way to about 175 yards.

while watching them 2 hens came by at 5 yards followed by a nice tom. 9” beard.

Great job Kevin.  Im going on Monday. First year really giving it a try. Hopefully we can get some fishing in this season.

Congratulations Kevin to your wife!  I made a few trips up to your area this spring for perch and always watch the fields for turkeys, it seems like fewer birds are around, at least on the fields I could see off of 81 and 12.  In my area, northern Oswego and Cayuga Counties, turkey numbers are way down.  I only heard a couple distant gobbles and one person shot off in the distance.  It's early I guess.  Good luck finding your bird!  By the way, I don't know the reason for the decline in turkey numbers, it may not be cause and effect, but fisher numbers have steadily increased over the last decade?

Very nice, Kevin! We have a group of about twenty birds that's been regular in a field across the street from our house, and my wife enjoys watching them through my kid's telescope. I don't think she'd ever shoot one, but she thinks that calling them in is cool as $hit.

I feel fortunate that my wife enjoys spending time with me in the outdoors. She is pretty much a fair weather hunter and fisherwoman but loves to see the world come alive and turn on Marlin to identify bird calls.
She also happily enjoys eating the fish and game we harvest and we have a large garden.

Nice that she can relate to my passion!
