First trip of the year was a success!

Lots of floating ice in the morning at the mouth of the Genesee, and a bunch more were trapped east until we hit Irondequoit Bay.

the water level is also as low as I have ever seen it. The water line was below the bottom of the docks.

We trolled from the river all the way to Webster Park. We were blanked from the river until about Marge's, where we picked up our first brown; once we got past Irondequoit Bay, the action picked up. The closer to Webster Park we got, the higher the temperatures went, from 33.8 to 34.9, and so did the action and quality of fish.

The best depth was 10 feet or less. In the morning, orange was the best color; after 10:30 am, more natural colors prevailed, such as blue, green, and yellow. Short to medium shallows seemed to do best.

The medium 2-hook Rapala Husky Jerk took the most fish, but the FishUSA mini Smithwick was a close second.

Great report.  The water level is actually higher than it was last year on this date.
