Thanks for the new format report ,I watched yesterday and appreciate the info I only get to the lake twice a year and try to soak up any imput I can from you guys fortunate to live on such great fishery . Is there any possibility matures will follow soon ? It seems like bigger browns come a few weeks after the season starts . Or maybe more people out a few weeks later. Also read matures are first to show up , it is concerning no 20 lb king caught yet in Canadian Tourney , hoping just long cold winter .Loc derby will tell storey I guess .After reading bait survey info one would think theres enough food for robust growth . Thx Rich

The St. Catherines fish and game derby is being led by a 23 and change king.  I think we are just seeing a huge class of 2 year olds.

I think the lake is still getting back to normal from the hurricane force winds W/SW winds we had in the fall and early winter.   I noticed the center of warm water over the lake had shifted from the normal winter offshore areas of Niagara County to the deep basin off Sodus. Two weeks ago there was a muddy debris field off Olcott which I typically don’t encounter out front. Usually the stained debris field sets up off Somerset. Currents are off IMO.  Going to be a weird year.

I’ve been out quite a bit so far and the fishing has been fantastic. No complaints. Good luck all in the morning.

Just a thought. Have any of you followed the ridiculous returns the Canadian streams are now seeing year in year out. Natural reproduction is the sauce that is going to wreck this once great fishery. It killed Huron. We are seeing raise its ugly head on Lake Michigan.

The over stocking of Lake Trout by the Michigan DNR is causing more damage to the alewife population than natural reproduction of kings.........

Hey Rich,

Thanks for taking the time to put these reports together. I always watch your reports for valuable information. You do a great job in helping all anglers Pro or Rookies like me. Keep up the great job. I wish there was someone on the eastern end of the lake for reports and intel.

I fished the bar Friday and Olcott today. There is a huge population of two year old kings out there right now. For you fishermen that like to keep your catch, it is a great time to get out there. If you want cohos, there are a bunch on the bar feeding on a few schools of large Emerald Shiners.

Two days in an not one Salmon over 20lbs registered on the LOC Derby Leaderboard. 🤔

Never seen that before unless it was due to weather and people not fishing.

Dr Weidel confirmed that most of the bigger alewife hauls are coming from the East end and numbers are down slightly most likely from the die off.
