Question to any DEC official reading this.

So the DEC owned launch on Sandy Creek was closed due to high water. 

Is there anyone in the DEC structure who thought about, instead of closing the launch, just temporarily putting some boards on the submerged parts , thereby making the launch usable and relatively safe (as safe as it would be with lower water levels)?

You see,  the people who use this launch are taxpayers. In other words, the people who help pay for your salary. Who are all co-owners of this park. In short,your employers.

So maybe instead of denying these people the use of their communal property, why don't you arrange a temporary solution so the owners of this launch can use their communal property?

Rolmops - Because there is a lot more involved than just the deck.  They're going after new piles and abutments. Project was proposed last year.  Here's the project:

Proposed improvements to the existing boat launch at NYSDEC's Public Fishing Access Site to Sandy Creek. Construction will include an approximately 888 SF permanent dock on 3-inch piles, 135.6 SF concrete abutments, and 2,112 SF concrete ramp to be reconstructed. Work will involve approximately 0.7 acres of disturbance to a NYS-regulated Class 1 freshwater wetland and approximately 182 SF of fill below mean-high water level of Sandy Creek, a Class C navigable stream."

It would cost a couple hundred bucks to put a temporary deck on top of what is there to get parts of the docks above water.  I'm willing to bet, people would donate time and money if they would give the OK.
