I have an Elite 7 hdi and I like it a lot, or you could get the 5 with chirp for the loot you have to spend. I'm a Lowrance guy so maybe others will have knowledge of other units in the $500,00 price range

Good combination outfits with a chart plotter can be had for that budget. Lowrance and Garmin have built in depth contours that make trolling easy.

Or she gets the boat in the settlement and you don't need the sonar any longer.

Ask the wife how many pairs of shoes she has. That usually quiets them down.

Have the wife get a part time job to allow you to have the unit you need!

I am partial to my Garmin Echomap 73dv.  2d sonar/down vu sonar/and chartplotter.  Internal GPS and I love the unit.  I was always a lowrance guy but change to this Garmin and I am not going to look back.  ANother great thing is how fast it acquires GPS.  They had it on sale at cabelas for 699 plus a 100 dollar rebate.  Good Deal.
