What is going on with these kickers

Recommended Posts

So winter has me trapped in the house watching You Tube ( or sometimes sitting on the edge of the tub staring down the toilet I call it my ice fishing simulator ) I see a lot of videos where the kicker motor is frantically oscillating back and forth. What's going on? My boat has 2 outboards and the kicker is tied to the main motor with a connecting rod and doesn't move unless the wheel is turned. My steering while trolling is usually done with my bow mounted ipilot.

My tr1 does there are filters to slow it down. It runs off a compass ball up in the bow hold when its rough it always tries to correct itself. That makes kicker counter steer.

Your iPilot TM is doing the exact same thing in the front when in AP mode. Difference is, in those videos you watched the AP is on the kicker motor.
