  2. One revolution on a full spool and one on an empty are different by a lot . The number that reads on the counter is a reference . Not an accurate measurement . It's a relative number . Some of you guys concern yourselves with minor things that don't mean a whole lot and detract from actually fishing .
  3. I had a Cabalas freeze up on my son while we had a big king on a braid dipsey . The reel locked up solid with 400 ft of line out. Couldn't reel it in . I hand lined a wrapped the line around a rod holder , took 15 min to land the fish I took the reel apart and cleaned out the hardened grease and lubed it and it works fine now . It prompted me to clean a lot of my reels . I bought an Ardent reel lube kit from Runnings and did I think 45 reels last winter . It made a big difference and wasn't hard . That's might be all it needs . I have one Magda same as yours for a braid dipsey . Landed and awful lot of kings on it . I like it . You don't need the best of everything to catch these fish. There are some mid grade reels that are fine.
  4. If you want walleyes your best bet is Henderson Harbor, Black River Bay area. I caught 2 in the entirety of last year in Mexico, one in the spring fishing browns and one in the fall fishing for staging kings.

  6. I use to catch them in May at night at Oswego in along with browns. Haven’t tried it there in a while. Trolled in 6-20 fow with jointed rebels on long lines or casting them.
  7. 2 New Mate Series 30 degree rod/cup holder combos. Awesome product with amazing reviews, just decided to go a different direction. Stainless steel and round up top. Stop post in bottom. Never used or mounted in boat. They're usually at least $110 each. Selling for $85 each.
  8. I see and hear if you have dry exhaust and hammer down it works. I can’t believe people are at wide open throttle through there and they are not cheap boats not to mention the safety factor.
  9. Mike Stark last years derby winner and FLTA club member turned me on to them. I need to put in a new order. Thanks Les, fishing in the new to me boat has really helped me expand my options.
  10. I had the bases on my boat for years but never ended up using the actual planers. I just went with the inline planers. So it is time to do some purging. These are the heavy duty ones from Great Lakes Anger. They will come with the 5x5 bases but they do sell the base for the tracks. These retail for $539 a piece. I am looking for $400 each. I will cover shipping as I don't think I'll be up to Pulaski until August. Preferred payment would be PayPal or Venmo.
  11. I occasionally pick one up while fishing for browns in Apr and May but it is only one or two per season. I would think you would be much better off fishing the bays and estuaries for walleye.
  12. Maybe 3 weeks or a month ago I hit bottom in a 17ft crestliner. Thankfully it was sand but not a good start this early in the year
  13. Have not heard anything from Braddocks yet, is the channel passible with a 19.5 Ft starcraft? Planning to head out Wednesday.

for sale : usa 2001 Stratos 290 SF

$6,500 2001 Stratos 290 SF. (607) 483-2948. Chemung County, NY. Owned the boat approximately 20 years. Brand new lower unit on the 225 HP 2 Stroke Evinrude. The boat itself has a minn kota terrova and a lowrance HDS graph. Two live wells. Some of the gauges don’t work at the moment. Trailer has good tires and the wheels have been gone over and repacked last year with two of them receiving new bearing kits. We love the boat but need to simplify.

  17. I bought a couple of the new saltists to try out this year. Only used them 4 or 5 times so far but they have been awesome. I will report back at the end of the season
  18. I got a couple extra reels that I don’t use that I’m looking to move. Okuma Coldwater 303d - currently spooled as a SWR setup (2 colors of lead with 30lb mono under it) $100 Daiwa Seagate 60 - currently has 200ft of copper on it now. $120 Okuma Convector 45d - currently empty $80 pickup in Mexico or buyer pays shipping. I can get pictures of anyone wants them.
  19. I have not. I have heard from some captains that they are good but not as bullet proof as the originals.
  20. I run the original Saltists. They are bullet proof, superior drags, 6.1:1 gear ratio and great drag adjustability. The line counter placement is a pain for some but it doesn't bother me at all. I have had them since they first came out and only replaced one drag clicker in years of use.
