    Lake Erie Bite 2024

Heading to Small Boat Harbor in Buffalo this weekend for the first time ever to troll for some eyes. Anyone have a starting depth? Bringing boards and 2 to 7 color lead cores. I have both a variety of sticks both shallow and deep and harnesses. Thanks for any feedback.
  3. Good news lets hope the weather conditions are right.
  4. The mounting plate is definitely the way to go two holes and sealed with the above mentioned calk and never look back. Twenty two years on mine and still great. An upside to it is also the option to either move the transducer for better positioning, or to add other transducers etc. in the future.
  5. I've used Stern Savers on a couple of aluminum boats without any problems. 9 years for the one, 11 for the other.
  6. Depending on weather it could be slower but might still be OK....Oswego or Mexico is probably a better option that time of year.
  7. I would mechanically fasten and then seal with lifecaulk, or 4200 - have done it a million times and you won't have any issues with water intrusion and its solid. Both LIfecaulk and 4200 are rated for below waterline applications. Do not use cheap silicone or caulk from Lowes...
  8. Another slide diver guy here. I have been running 35 foot of 40# mono as well to a 6 foot section of flouro. I ran 30# mono for a bit but felt I was replacing it too often. Ive been running black slide divers with the clear mag ring (no mag weight) Works well for me.
  9. Congrats Mike! Keep up the good work!
  10. Not exactly what you are looking for....I mounted a piece of poly board with 4 screws sealed with 5200, and mounted my transrucers to that.
  11. Dark till daylight.......it’s about 7 hours......9:30PM - 4:30AM. 10-2 being prime.
  12. I typically run 2 wire divers per side on Ontario. Deep inside is a Mag on 1.5 or 2 and an outside High on 3.5 or 4. ‘IF’ fish seem negative, I will swap out 1 or both high divers for a braid slide diver on 4 with 40’ of 40lb mono for diver to slide on. For Erie walleye I usually run 3 divers per side. Deep inside mag on wire and then 2 regular dipsys. I hardly ever run slide divers for Wallye because of conflicts with the other divers /just too much more labor with typically fast fish action.
  13. They are quite deadly for lake trout on Seneca and Cayuga and Keuka. The double spoon gives them a clicking sound in the water.
  14. Congratulations Frogger and everyone. Was a great derby, weather was awesome for 2 days. So enjoyable and already looking forward to next year. This lake is on it's way back. I think, looking at the big picture, the Dec has a decent picture of what is happening. Of course., everything subject to Mother Nature's whim.
  15. Congrats Mike! I landed a decent mix of lakers and browns, 1 bow and 1 landlocked but couldn't get anything in the boat much over 5 lbs. Yesterday, had a better brown on but on his 3rd jump he spit the hook. Enjoyed it out there, congrats to all the winners!
  16. Thanks guys, this year however we struggled to get anything larger than 7lbs in the box. We’ve all been there, when you least expect it right. 50% being in the right place at the right time, 30% determination, 20% luck! Can’t say enough for my net man (son)with a perfect net job. With a little high fiving and yahooing my apologies to the boat still fishing next to us watching the show.
  17. What model Livingston lure are you using?
  18. Yesterday
  19. Not surprised, great job Mike! When you produce year after year it’s no accident.
  20. Yes and our LOU member Frogger almost won it but his 12.02 laker got nosed out by a 12.36 pounder but he still pulled off winning the lake trout division. Some decent fish caught this year. My hats off to Mike
