  2. A VHF is never a bad idea. I have one that came with a new to-me boat that I would be willing to donate to you. Just pay for the shipping. If you are interested drop me a message and we can figure it out.
  3. Today
  4. Just for safety purposes alone I would say to replace it, you can get a decent one for $100-$150. I still hear alot of people talking on mine when I'm out on the lake, I have a mounted VHF and a floating handheld VHF just in case. If your cell phone gets wet before you can make a call for help, a VHF might just save your life someday.
  5. if you have a Minn Kota motor check the 3 amp fuse ..this video shows it ..mine blows from time to time and when it does I cant run my motor and depth finder at the same time
  6. Guarantee that old timer had some hours into those blanks. Pretty cool. Very glad everybody knows what lure he was trying to imitate, Just kidding.
  7. Right on!!!!! I love watching guys in smaller rigs getting after em... One day I was out in 3s .. good friend was out in his rig ( same size as your rig) right next to me .. a couple times I looked over and just saw the guys heads above the waves ... They were waving having a blast.... Keep after em....
  8. I hear you 3 days out of Wilson in that NE chop with a 19’ boat catching kings was exhausting! 👍
  9. Thanks for sharing. I am planning one of three trips to Fairhaven myself.
  10. Lake Erie United is great, you may know of it already: Lake Erie Fishing Reports for Perch, Walleye, Bass & Trout | Lake Erie United
  11. Niagara County ... Very good this weekend .. I ran a hodge podge of spoons this weekend. First trip this year I ran a Spin doc and meat Rig. Super impressed by Deep Rig tackle bait. Sorry the video isn't that entertaining. I was exhausted...lol
  12. I would say with the square bill more of an Lazy Ike also
  13. After suffering a cancelled charter (wildfire smoke) last summer my son and I are looking to figure out Lake Erie smallies on our own this spring. We run a small boat (20ft) with nice bells and whistles that can handle a slight chop. A few questions (1) Best launch point when considering travel from Rochester (2) Good forums similar to this worth monitoring (3) Camping near a favorable port? I will forego the best tactics question and cover this in my research. Thanks all.
  14. Does anyone use their VHF anymore? Mine seems to have died over the winter and wondering if I should bother replacing it.
  15. I thought about a plug this weekend, but I was too lazy to figure out where I stashed them in the new ride LOL
  16. Thank you, I know I may have ending going that route, but I was hoping someone might have an old stock solenoid coil available.
  17. Long weekend at wilson. Didn’t do as well as some but did well enough to take plenty of fillets home. When your buddies think you are crazy when you tell them you were releasing up to 10lbs kings then they go out with you the next day and do the same they realize it is crazy! Saturday first it was a 200 steel that took the shots then a couple rigger hits then a dipsy kept getting clobbered then it was all riggers. 100-140 fow. Spoon preference change every hour. What took fish at 8am just dragging in the water at 9. Sometime we could t get back rigged up before another rod popped! sunday it was all riggers for us no steel or dipsy hits! Again spoons changed each hr with each flurry of hits largest king was 18lbs smallest fish was below!!! Caught after watching my rods bounce as the lines pulled thru the bait! call out to Tacklemaster Matt for sharing on the water!
  18. My brother and I headed out to 250ft, 46 degree surface temps. Started Trolling north and eventually turned and trolled back to the Genny. Best water was 150 ft 50–60 down. Best spoon was the DW yellow Leopard D. we lost three. Got 5 or 6 shakers. And landed three mature kings. The biggest was over 23lbs and took a run on the wire dipsey for the ages. It’s was awesome. Special thanks to Bill for this trip. You’re the man.
  19. Great report. The good old times are now! FYI, try some plugs on your leadcore if it is rotting. We have had some good bonus junk line fish that are often the biggest of the day. Silver horde and jplugs in #4 size.
