  4. Was able to get out and fish 5 days during the LOC out of Rochester. The goal was to catch a big brown but the inside water cleared up and made it very difficult to target them. I tried multiple techniques and locations and only boated 1. So take what the lake gives you, the salmon fishing out of Rochester was good to decent most days but we were not getting the size needed to place in the LOC. We changed gears and targeted lake trout during the late mornings. On Sunday I brought my kids and we fishing Lakers from 7:30-12:00 and boated 41 trying for that LOC fish kids division. We came up short by a pound with the biggest around 17LBs and a handful around 16lbs. Hammerhead cowbells, NK cowbells with gambler rigs behind them on the riggers. The Lakers were anywhere from 180'-100' close to the bottom. Colors did not matter these fish were hungry. I did notice when I was bringing the downrigger balls up the lakers would chase it. So when I would see fish on the graph I would bring the down rigger up 10 feet and 9 out of ten times it would trigger a strike. The kids had a blast, I was tired but it was fun to constantly have fish on. All but 2 were released and burped! Boated over 90 lakers all week just could not get a big one. Eric
  5. another route to go is if your kicker has an external gear shift lever on the motor, you can buy a control king throttle control to control your motor speed.these units are great, start your motor, put it in gear and then just turn a dial to control your speed at the helm.super easy to dial in your speed just right.no need to install controll box or cables.probably be around the same price as buying new cables.
  6. Have not been to the lake in a while , been planning a trip with some friends coming in from outta town for this weekend into early next week . Lotta east winds in the forecast but light winds . I don’t usually do well in east wind fishing but with sustained and light east winds , maybe be ok ??? Anybody have any thoughts ??
  7. I took the fire boat out on eclipse day and it was less than 2’ in certain spots of the channel hugging west side. Was hoping it would improve but always seems to be shallow there.
  8. Be careful launching out of Braddock's the channel is very shallow per usual, I bounced off bottom about two weeks ago in a 17ft crestliner fishhawk heading in for gas and decided i wouldn't bother risking it for the future with no real need to go into the bay.
  9. I launch out of the Port of Rochester and fish to lighthouse, Ill be going out Thursday Night but the fishing slowed down a bit and south winds have pushed a lot of the kings offshore. I've been most productive in 150-250 feet for kings the last two weeks and we picked up a small Atlantic a king and a handful lakers in that 75-100 range on Saturday. Meat Rig and flasher fly bite is pretty good Kings have been sitting deeper when fishing the inside water and in the top 50 or 60 of the water column when fishing that deeper 150+ range. Pretty new to trolling but that's been my experience the last two weeks.
  10. I've got a long set of cables that came off my 9.9 Merc kicker. I can measure them if you're interested.
  11. Going to wet some lines tomorrow. Anything exciting will let you know.
  12. I have poured over all available reports and info. Hoping to share real time details on the water,......share. We have plenty of experience fishing the western basin.
  13. Any word on the Seneca bite? Heading down for my seventh derby next week. What temps are you reading? Any info is much appreciated.
  14. just go to eBay and search for shift cables for Honda outboard motors. I think the cables are interchangeable like the Mercury cables are. you might even add the length you want to your search. it should give you some options to buy both cables together. I'm using old 115 HP 2 stroke Mercury 1979 cables on my 2000 Mercury 9.9 4 stroke.

  16. Hope to get out on the lake this Friday, May 17, launching at Braddock Bay. I was wondering if anyone has fished the Sandy Creek/Hamlin, Lighthouse Point or Braddock Bay areas recently and have any information to share on recent fishing experiences in these areas, whether salmon or brown trout or whatever. My last time out was about 4 weeks ago and we did very well on brown trout back then. Fished 10-20 ft of water that day. Caught about a dozen in 3-3.5 hours of fishing. But I am sure things have changed since then as water has warmed. Any information that anyone could share would be appreciated!! Thank you! Mr Kato
