  2. Using braid as backing gets very expensive. Depending on the sizes of your reels you could use 20 lbs big game. That's what I have on all my reels as backing. I only have two reels with braid as backing, my wire rods.

  9. I like the RAM mount just have to get the right one for the particular finder. My X4D and Finder are located right in front of me next to each other so I can process both at once but depending on how much room you have and the size of finder you should play with things before permanently mounting to make sure of all the spacing concerns. I have a friend that has his finder located too near the steering wheel and each time when with him and I have to make a steering adjustment I get my hand scraped Being able to adjust to numerous angles is important. (e.g sun and others being able to monitor)

  11. Rolled out of Bald eagle for a quick trip before the storms came in an landed on some active fish. Fished the 50-80 fow, riggers parked anywhere from 40-60 down, an my 6 colors kept us busy for a nice two man limit for the smoker today. Stud color was mixed veggies, n geter done. Good luck to all this holiday weekend and Thank you to all our service folks an family's. Sent from my Pixel using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Getting ready to replace the backing on a lot of my trolling reels. Would like to hear the Pro's/Con's and what type/brand of Braid most people are using as a backing on trolling reels. Also, any suggestion on the best place to purchase the new braid? Thank you for your time and effort. Fishbowl836
  13. I'll be heading out in the morning we'll be fishing both Friday and Saturday, got my fingers crossed that we get to move some rods.
  14. I'm happy with my helix 9. It is the mega scan with down and side imaging which I use for multie species and lakes and rivers. I believe last poster is kinda correct about it being useful for salmon on lake o, but early in the season (even now) there are salmon ,browns ,Lakers shallow. May be useful late in the season as well when fish are in closer staging. My helix can do more than I'm capable of unless my kids help me. But big screen is nice. Might be some sales this weekend Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Looking for some advice for mounting my fishfinder and also a fishhawk. That sort of thing. Thank you in advance. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I run 13 lbs torpedoes from troutman87 with my probe. Blowback is gonna happen, but with the X4D you’ll get running depth and can figure out blowback on your other rigger. You shouldn’t have a problem, should be fine. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Notice: Due to high water levels, a local state of emergency order for a “No Wake Zone” has been established for boats 1,000 feet from the Lake Ontario shoreline and tributaries. All motorized boats within 1,000 feet of the shoreline and within these waterways must operate at an idle speed. Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-27) – Free Fishing for all active duty military or veteran personnel. Lake Ontario/Oswego River report: According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing: Monday brought crazy weather clouds, sun, wind, rain and then big wind but we still managed a decent box including a nice double on Lake Ontario chinook salmon. Yesterday we found plenty of kings right outside of the Oswego Harbor. Even after Tuesday’s rough seas we still put together a decent catch.
