We fished off the can from 80-160', riggers parked at 70 and 80, 240 on the #2 1/2 high wire, 130 on the #1 1/2 mag wire, and free sliders for steelhead. We ran all mag spoons (except SS orange for steelies), with a mix of Stingers, Warriors, and Moonshine in various patterns combining black and green lol. I didn't keep precise track of our hits, but probably 15 or so, with half of them resulting in fish to the boat. In other words, a bunch of there and gone strikes. Nothing over 15 lbs...one really nice 10+ steelhead...not as many dinks today as Sunday.
Great day to be on the water, and the flies weren't out of control, so.,..bonus.
Hey, I know that guy! He's one of my colleagues at URMC, a prof who works on musculoskeletal research. Hani and I used to play volleyball together for years, and he's always been receptive when we were trying to place inner city kids in labs for internships. Good guy. I'm glad to see they caught a bunch of fish. I'll have to get a first hand report from him tomorrow.
Took me longer than it should have to find them, too - and I was too proud (ie, old and stubborn) to walk into the basement and simply look at them. I wonder if having the word "bomb" in the name makes them register lower on Google's search engine? I was getting everything but.
My X4D probe failed just after the warrantee expired. I tried all of the options to figure out what might be wrong, but it simply wasn't transmitting. No damage, no condensation, no corrosion. I figured that I was SOL, but FishHawk sent me a new probe immediately, without charge, no down-time. I am beyond impressed and wanted to give a shout out to them for standing behind their product.
Michigan Stinger Dive Bomb is what you're looking for - 2, 4, and 8 oz should do the trick with short coppers. I put them 50' up, directly on the copper and have never had an issue fingers crossed. I think they may net me 10-30 feet extra, on average.
Many kayak tournaments use photographic evidence to enter your catch - inches, not pounds. Catch, photo, release format. Best five. It can even be updated in real time. I'm sure that the anglers aren't keeping bass to weigh them in.
I'd suggest trying to contact some of these boat owners who may in the past have posted their boats here via pm rather than adding to old threads; you might also talk to Tommy at East Fork Marina in Hamlin, as he generally knows who is selling what, when. Good luck in your quest.
Things that make you go hmmm....
Inquiring after a boat that was posted for sale over 15 years ago? I think Bill got it right. A day late for April Fools.
True. I fully appreciate the increased cost of doing business...NIH modular grants were capped at $250,000 a year in 1998, and haven't budged since then (if you can believe that load of crap)...try operating on a 1998 budget. Numbers are numbers are numbers. And after that initial building, Bruce never put anything back into the place, so I figured he was operating on the edge. I'd like to see the business succeed. I will keep fingers crossed.
Better than twice what Bruce was getting. A bit steep for my taste, but I do hope he can generate the $ to keep improving the facility. It's a shame to see it rot.
