  1. Hi Greg, As the Summer goes on the fish move South of Sheldrake. You will still find Lakers up North around Deans but not as many big fish. Summer was a long time coming this year so they took longer geting South but they are down even past Taughanock now. It is all due to water temps, bait movement, and the need to get to spawning locations.
  2. Launched at Deans and fished South of Sheldrake this morning. We had to deal with the weeds all day but we put some nice fish in the boat. We didnt get on any big Lakers today all of are fish were 6 to 8lbs. We put 15 Lakers in the boat and one nice Rainbow that went 6.14 lbs. Mostly a flasher and fly bite today with two or three on spoons and cranks.
  3. Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a great day . Sean
  4. Thanks Grady, The weeds were not bad, but I got a call from a friend on the lake today and the weeds were real bad on the East side.
  5. Jcridge, Let me know how you make out. I will have some questions for you on your install. I have the Lowrance HDS 10 AND THE HDS 5 that are networked together. I want to put in a Simrad ap-14 and hook them all up. Thanks Sean
  6. I have two Sub Troll units on my boat and I have had no problems. Sean
  7. Thanks Guys, Justin tomorrow should be a good day, Sounds like it might be not so great Sat and Sun with the cold front blowing in Friday night. Greg Cayuga has some great bows in it to, just like Seeca if you can find the area they are in you can get them. And they all have a Rainbow or two like the one we lost, that is what keeps you going back
  8. Owasco is just South of Oswego Lakers, Bows, Browns, Walleyes, Cayuga next lake to the west Big Lakers, Bows, Browns, and Landlock Salmon. Go to Cayuga Launch at long point East side of lake and fish South towards Taughanock.
  9. 18 ft lund you should be good on Seneca or Cayuga if you cant fish Ontario. Or Owasco no problem with waves on Owasco.
  10. What a morning on Seneca . My group got on the boat at 6:40am at Severne, we took a short boat ride and got set up over 500' of water. Put six rods out and had three fish on just as the 6th rod hit the water. By 8:05am we were 2 fish short of a three man 5 fish per person limit, and by 9:30 all three of them had 5 fish each not counting all of the lakers we let go at the back of the boat. I have never had a day like today on Seneca, we had twenty five fish by 10:30am and half of them were Salmon and Bows. But what makes the day one we will never forget is the one that got away. We had a bow on the rigger get off at the back of the boat, he took a dive into the kicker after a long battle. The line broke on the prop and he came up to the side of the boat and laid on his side just long enough for everyone to get a good look. I have never caught a bow that big in any lake including Ontario, he had to be at least 15lbs. We hit the same area for another try and we did put 4 more bows in the boat and lost two, we let almost all of the bows go and kept the salmon. The bows all went around 5 to 6lbs and the salmon were around 20 to 23 inches long. I hope you guys had a good day at work today Sean
  11. Used for Copper line. Lots of guys still use them so I am shure you will get some info. If not go to Seneca Marine in Watkins they still sell them they will fill you in.
  12. Well today was the same as yesterday on Seneca. Same program fished the East side from 7am to 11am put several big Lakers in the boat one that was 10lbs and 3 just over 9lbs. We let all the big boys go but the crew from PA wanted some fish for the smoke house so they took some home. We also got into the salmon down 70' out over 500' on the riggers, and one on the core.
  13. I use the red off shore snaps from the snap weight kit. Put your snap swivel on one end of leader, then put line in back hole on off shore snap then tie on second snap swivel. Hook snap to your main line then swivel snap for lure. I like doing it this way due to the fact the off shore snap stays in one spot even with a fish on.
  14. August 21st to Sept 7th, good luck with the scotty. I wish I was in it but not this year. Sean
  15. Nice Fish, the weeds stunk up North
  16. Justin, On the riggers orange/red or purple, and then on the deep rigger spinn Dr/fly and a NK-28 silver with blue stripe fixed slider up 10' rigger down 80'.
  17. Thanks Guys, I have a trip on Seneca in the morning out of severne 8/13. If any of you are out give me a call I will let you know whats going on. I hope the crap (weeds and trees) in the center of the lake stays off the fish I found.
  18. Launched at Severne fished the East side fom 6:30 to 10:am put twenty lakers in the boat. Had a group that wanted some good eating size lakers for the grill/smoker. We had a hard time geting fish under 5lbs today, (problem I can live with ). We had 5 over 30 inches from 9 to 10lbs all but one of them we could let go. The weeds started to blow East around 9am then west by 10am. If you go out, watch out North of Sevene out over 500 we found some big logs and tree tops in the weed pods. Only ran 4 to 6 rods that all took fish today wire divers out 220 to 240, riggers down 80, 70, 60, and 50', and core. We did not get into the off fish today but they had to be down over 70' I had temps of 64 to 65 70' down up North. All of the bait wa down 50' t 80' also and we found a ton of it. Hear is a Pic of the pile I had to fillet at the end of the trip.
  19. Just Fishin, you get any info yet I am looking at a tuna trip also? Thanks Sean
  20. I got an Inflatable, the day after I went off the back of my boat in early April two years ago into ice water. Good thing I had my dad with me or I would have been done. I use it in the spring and fall or if I am alone. We had 4 or 5 drownings in the last month all of them had folks with them but no PFD on. As for seat belts that is up to you, I have seen one crash were not having the belt on hellped but I have been to several were one guy with the belt on stayed in the car and was ok and the others with no belt in his car had to be scraped off the road.
  21. 7 strand that is your 30lb wire. Have your dipsey on a 1.5, if I go with my dipsey set on 1 it will get in the riggers if you have a lot of wire out. Run your flashers so they will have the most action but run your flys 26 to 28 inches from the flasher for Lakers. Good luck if you get out next weekend. Sean
  22. like chowder said, 30 lb floro 7' to 10' depending on rod length. If you want to run 70' to 110' down I would use mag dipseys on 30lb 7 strand set on 1.5 out 210' to 240' for 70' to 90' down and out 320' for 110'.
  23. Chowder, Thanks for the Info on the water today. We didnt get started until 7:30 out of Sodus, we set up at 100' and went out to 250'. I had a big king Take a Yeck frog then we did two nice browns. Not much after that for an hour or two, once I talked to you we moved in to 100' and we smacked them good for an hour ( finished with 9) then headed home once the rain started. Most of the kings we put in the boat were only 10 to 14lbs we did get one that was 22lbs. most of the fish came on spoons on the riggers from 60 to 80', only fly I took fish on was a white spinn Dr and a glow hammer fly. Like you said the screen sucked, we didnt find a T-Cline until we went past 165' and then it was down 120 to 130' with no fish or bait.
  24. If any of you guys have some Sodus info from today or tuesday I could use it. I am going up Wednesday morning the 29th, its are first time back on Ontario since the Scotty in Wilson. I have been busy on the Finger Lakes. I see we have some South West wind today at my place just wondering what the water temps should be like on Wednesday. Thanks Sean
  25. It was a great morning on Seneca today . As soon as the first line hit the water the action started and it stayed that way until we finished at 11:30 am. We ended the trip with 22 fish put in the boat including 1 Bow, 1 Salmon, 1 Brown, and several lakers three of them over 31 inches. We let all but five go to fight another day. Most of the lakers we took down at 80' to 90' the off fish were taken at 40', I only ran five rods due to weed but they all took fish today.
