  1. Looks like pleanty of separation maybe propwash is pushing the center one a bit. Try shorter leads especially if running a spin Dr or other flasher they can wander a bit. Keep the center rigger 10 feet or more above or below the others and when all elese fails just blame whoever is at the wheel for not going straight Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Do you have a pic of your transom to show the set up? Is it the same two getting tangled or all 3 how much depth difference between them when running sometime a small thing can lead to constant tangles and can be maddening to figure out I once had a mag dipsey that would spin and cross the back tangeling the other dipsey I tried everything to fix and finnaly decided that the diver was just wrong so I tossed it and got a new one fixed the problem instantly Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. there was an earlier update that talked about an AM division I dont see it on the registration page Is that going to be done this year?

  6. You can get some extra spread on your dipseys using outriggers Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Runnings was 32 Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. thats a great area for slide divers as well especially on the calmer days when the fish are a little spookier
  9. Those squirrel tail jigs work great for trout in streams started making them a couple years ago. Gotten into panfish and bass with them to a blast catching with a lure you made Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Launch out of the bays that way it's a built in backup plan fishing warmwater species most of the year you can find fish within 2 miles or less of port watch the weather like a hawk and be willing to cut and run quick that small a boat you can beach it in an emergency and you can trailer a long ways so follow the wind and wave reports Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Sandy will close in late May when the water gets to high Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. If it doesn't work out I would take them Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I have several of these still in use solid reels Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. If in shallower take a hot and tot remove the back hook and tie on a 2 foot piece of line with a jig and twister tail troll this slowly and it can be deadly for crappie and perch will target bigger fish and cover more water and the occasional bonus large fish on the plug. The plug acts as both a diver and an attractor Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Get a separate battery for electric motor make both battery's duel type (starting/deep cycle). They than serve as a back up for each other good piece of mind Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. There is also a launch on bear Creek have to get a pass from the community center on Knickerbocker which is open if your going late morning take 104 to Knickerbocker center is in the park on the left. When you get to end of Rd turn right launch is right there I bay is also a nice option early season but the bridge will be in till April so if your boat is high profile you might not get under in all honesty though Hugh's is one of the nicer launches around very fisherman oriented Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I have a 15 foot piece of 50 lb mono tied in for this exact purpose works well no failers in that section so far I use an Albright knot replace mono every spring (it's cheap) and if needed throughout the season if that section get twisted with another line or something. Mono that thick will hold up in a knot to wire very well the weak point is usually further down the system in the leader from dipsey to lure Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Those bonnet heads are tasty steak em up and put them right on the grill with some butter Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Just because it's not natural doesn't mean it doesn't work more than a few days pink clown was the star what is that matching? Sometimes you want to be different than what's out there because that triggers the aggressive fish Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Those commanders are awesome boats they also have the authority model very similar with a couple of tweaks. They are both on my "lottery winnings" list Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Battery might put out voltage and still be bad how did you test it? The fact it works when plugged in means the vex is likely fine and the power source is your issue new battery is much cheaper lots of options out there. Hate to see a fellow ice guy get the short end. That said If you're set on a new vex I would be happy to take the old one and try to make it work my current version is almost as old as i am and has been through more abuse than I care to admit Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. i bay is a tough bet this time of year it could be open from launch to lake but the ice sheet or part of it can and often does move and could block your way back bear creek is usually open but the docks will be out and if there is any surge that one can be lets call it interesting. genny is probably a good bet but if we get some real cold stretches ice chunks are a possiblility there as well though at that point shore ice on the lake may make it moot never launched out of the coast guard station but would think the risk of getting blocked out happens there as well. deffinatly best to use a launch with no major ice formation behind or upstream. .
  23. Can also loosen the drag and a surge will cause a click or two rather than a release. Wire is not forgiving and with a mag divers the rod doesn't have a ton of give left either better an occasional false trip than a freight train hit breaking every thing off Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. South Bay also carries them in general a decent trollers selection Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
