Well im a short guy who likes the 7 ft to 7,5 ft rods gives you more leverage on the fish is easier to rig ,med action is good med heavy is ok too ..you can get some good deals on ugly stix 39.00 2 pc and K-mart had some for 29.00 and i missed the deal and i have some 2.00 close out cherrywoods from wallmart (12.00 reg price) ive used for 7 years ant snaped one yet but ive beat the eyes on a couple id recomend the 7 ft 2 pc uglies.

7' ugly med/heavy & Okuma CV45LC w/ 30# Ande and 30' 15# FC leader for spoons, 20# FC for flashers on staged fish. You get a hot fish behind the boat and a 7' rod is a lot easier to weave thru your other other stuff and you can really whip a fish quick w/ a 7' rod (ask my kids)cuz you got major leverage on them instead of the other way around! My 2 cents(all it's worth!)
