Tohatsu 8hp fourstroke kicker with controllking

Recommended Posts

For sale: Tohatsu 8hp fourstroke tiller kicker. Great shape, runs very well. Electric start with alternator. Manual lift. Comes with a regular 3 blade prop and a 4 blade high thrust prop. It has a controllking controller. It will need a gas line with the connector(I forgot to take it off the old boat before I traded it in.) I used it for 2 or 3 summers. Best guess is 100ish hours. New lower unit and crankcase oils. $1200

I won’t ship it anywhere(because it would be insane to!), but can meet you within a reasonable distance. Currently located in Bloomsburg, Pa.

It does! I was just going by what the manual said. That’s more accurate than what I had available

Here’s what I was going off of. I’d have to drive to physically measure it, so it was best guess from transom height in the manual.

Hank is right about the "S" being a short shaft. That 17.1" might be the maximum transom height for this motor.

Does this motor weigh 102 pounds like it says on that spec sheet? How many amps is the alternator? Some seem to be 6 amp and some are 12 amp systems.

I’d say 102lbs seems like a stretch, but I bet that’s right. It’s got some weight to it, but I can move it around still. I had it on a Panther 4 stroke lift bracket so it didn’t feel like a lot of weight back there

It’s the 6amp. I remember looking up all the working amp loads for my gear to make sure it wasn’t too much.

I don't know what year the motor is (maybe 2013?) or if they have changed (which I doubt) but my 2016 9.8 long shaft (20 inch) is about 90 lbs. If a motor has power trim and tilt it could be up there but Im not sure they offered it on the 8 HP

Bought this motor brand new last spring, hours are well under 50 if I had to guess. Its a 4 stroke, long shaft, manual start, manual tilt, no charging motor (can be added though). I have a uninstalled controlking remote throttle unit included as well as a 4 blade hi-thrust prop and original unused 3 blade prop. Factory 3.3 gal tank and hose included. I paid close to $2k delivered for this last spring asking $1300, located in Rome, NY.

    • Kicker wiring

I just purchased a new kicker. Honda 9.9 electric start/tilt and am heading on a trip this weekend. When I have time I will add a blue seas add a battery kit with acr but in meantime I am wondering whats the safest way to hook kicker to battery. Currently have honda 150 with 2 batteries and a perko switch (1,2, and both) can I just parallel the kicker to main motor leads on switch currently? If I only run one at a time is there a chance of damage. Thanks for info

    • Mercury pro kicker experiences

Looking to add a kicker to my 16 fishmaster 196 that is already pre rigged for Mercury. Thinking a 9.9 pro kicker and was looking for opinions/ experiences.   Anybody running a late model 9.9 pro kicker and if so what are your likes/dislikes? Some searches I did turned up complaints on the fuel system( carb, jets) fouling up with ethanol gas, but I only run the non ethanol anyway. Anybody have or heard of this?     Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
