  1. Friday night while getting ready for the morning, my downstairs of my house started filling with smoke. After a visit from Hilton Fire Department, I was spending the night in my house with no power. The alarm went off at 330 am and I started my morning off with 2 hours sleep and not everything ready for the day. We left the dock at 430 am with thick fog and light winds. Did a couple browns early and then went offshore to find some silvers. We had a great screen in 75 - 100 fow with bait and hooks. We did not turn a silver so we started fishing lakers. We ended up boxing a decent laker with enough time left to get back to the dock. The ride back to the dock was was going good until the boat would not get over 3900 rpm's. Sunday morning, we jumped on another boat and started off fishing kings. We started in 70 fow and found good bait with some scattered hooks from 70 out to 200 fow. We ended up duming 2 teens kings and boxing a decent laker. At 10 am we snuck into 15 fow and box a bunch of browns in the last hour and a half of fishing. We ended up taking 10th? on Saturday and Sunday we took 5th. No horrible but could have been a lot better. Congrats to all the winners in the Open and Pro divisions. We will be back next year for sure. The tourney was well run and a good time despite the other events. The boat will be fixed this afternoon. There is an issue with the fuel pick up line in the tank.
  2. I perfer skin mounts for 2 reasons. 1) it is the actual fish you caught and 2) most replicas are limited to stiff as a board positions. If you look at a lot of replica mounts, the fish pose has no curve flared gills. Some guys are starting to make more molds with better positions.
  3. I went to 3 last season and love it. I would rather run more coppers and 4 wires. They seem to take more and bigger kings for me. There are days when too many riggers will spook fish also.
  4. I'm hoping I can fish them from Sandy. I have 4 out of 5 of these dates off from work.
  5. lol. Every ounce counts!
  6. Shes not going to be low after this rain! We might actually go ABOVE average this season.
  7. Port of Oak Orchard only or can you fish from any port?
  8. I run 50/50 flasher / spoons. I run a 4 wire set with one side with the spoon on the high diver and one side with the flasher on high diver.
  9. Yup. They have had the head since September of last year. I picked up the mount last week. I had to wait to get them the head until the taxidermist had all the measurements so he could order a fake head.
  10. The tried to age it by the scales and they came back inconclusive. Scale aging is inacurrate most of the time. The have the head to age it the bones in the inner ear. I figured we would get resultsback before the mount but that did not happen!
  11. I wish I could afford a house in that neighborhood!
  12. I use 20lb leaders on riggers for spoons. Flasher/flies, I tie right to the 30lb.
  13. Lake Ontario last August. Here is a link to the report. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php/topic/32261-sandy-81912-34lb-6-oz-lake-trout/
  14. They do make it in 25lb. http://www.walmart.com/ip/16880443?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem
  15. Some days I believe it matters. If the fish are in an off mood, yes. If they are super aggressive no. Browns are a lot more line shy than other species. Stick with QUALITY brands like P-line and Seagar. Make sure you buy floro leader material not reel filler spools.
  16. Call Mike Waterhouse 749-3966. He was busy running around helping with the Niagara event last week/weekend.
  17. I never thought of that Rick. The AM division did not allow captains.....
  18. Good luck getting answers out of them. My boss showed me a laker that came from Canadice on the ice 3 years ago with leasions on it. I called the fisheries guys and the came and picked it up. They told me they would get back to me. Months went by with no calls. I called them and they had no record of the fish! They still have the head to the 34lb laker we caught last summer and they have not aged it yet either!
  19. Congrats on the win John. I hear you found some lumber on the way home?
  20. I hope you are right Lou. See you out there.
  21. If you want more depth, scrap the long leadcore and go with a copper.

I got a 27" Quinte eye on my wall that weighed 9.01lbs. It all depends on girth. Lake Ontario and Quinte eyes are very healthy eyes. The girths are amazing.
  23. Hammertime and Live Wire Spin Doctors are my 2 favorite.
  24. Once the cottonwood goes away it will be flea season. Oh goody!
