  1. If it is set up like my Sea Nymph and other boats I have seen, there is a block under the dash or near the dash that all the toggle switches run to. This happened to me during a tournament a couple years ago. Gauges worked, toggles didn't. To save time, ran a temp wire from the switches back to the battery, that isolated the issue with the block under the dash. Again, sounds like something simple that might be being overlooked in the frustration/heat of the moment.
  2. Field and Stream Store off the Peach Street Exit in Erie.
  3. You need to determine where that swim platform is in respect to the waterline in the stern. Many times it is a foot or more above the waterline which is going to cause cavitation problems with a short shaft kicker.
  4. 12/30/14 Bow and Stern Marine in North Tonawanda is carrying the west coast American Angler series by Smokercraft as I mentioned above in this post.
  5. Buy it. With the 150 on it, the boat new is in the low 40's, most of them have a 115 on them. If it in excellent condition, it is a boat to buy.
  6. I had a 22 sylvan for 7 years, excellent Great Lakes boat. The 3.7 Mercruiser has its own issues which you should investigate before you take the plunge. Price is right on that boat.
  7. I have a 1956 Crestliner and a 1986 Sea Nymph-both riveted -no leaks.
  8. Smokercraft has for a number of years had the welded west coast line of boats, the American Angler boats: www.americananglerboats.com/ Any brand new boat is going to be expensive, that is a given. I agree that winter is the best time to buy that new boat, leftovers, dealers going out of business etc.
  9. They were state of the art downriggers back in the seventies and eighties. I don't think anyone was running over 10 lb balls back then. I think Offshore bought them in the late eighties and tried to revive the brand.
  10. 1984 Mirro-Craft Super Fisherman 16 ft, 25 HP Mercury Elec Start/trailer. New battery, gas tank, gas hose.(9/14) Anchor, life jackets, old depthfinder, bilge pump etc. Two pedestal seats come with it. Better pictures coming. $1750.00 or best offer. Located in Dunkirk, NY
  11. 10/9/14. Preparing to get it winterized and stored for the winter-may or may not be reposted in the spring. I purchased this boat in 2011 it had sat inside a garage for 5 years and had a 2 stroke Yamaha on it. The previous owner had re-done the interior including new floor. Has four swivel seats so it is set up now like a Great Lakes Special. I purchased the 2003 Mercury 4-stroke from Bow and Stern in North Tonawanda NY in 2011 used and they re-did the transom at that time. So the key issues on an old boat--floor, transom, interior and motor have all been done. I have probably put a total of about 150 hours on it in the four seasons I have had it. This boat is very fuel efficient. Was on Lake Ontario for four days last weekend and runs great. Boat does not leak. Have towed this with a 4 cyl S10 with no issues down the Thruway. In 2012, I had a new high fishing top, cockpit cover, and bow cover done. I have also installed LED taillights on the trailer. Will come with VHF and an old depthfinder which still works fine. I am asking $6700.00 or best offer. Like I said the main items have been addressed. Will take any additional pictures you would like. Reason for sale is purchase of a classic car. Located in Dunkirk, NY
  12. I have never run any weight over 10 lbs for the most part. I have owned Starcrafts, a Sylvan and now a Sea Nymph and with the rigger run at 90 degrees out(straight out from the gunnel) all of the aluminum boats I have owned have had some flex but they all had aluminum going across the front of the transom well, not like the fish-n-ski-boats now which are almost open to the transom. I also think that Lund also has the narrow gunnel on the top so you may have to do some reinforcement. I know there is probably foam under it but a backer board or plate is an option to spread the stress out from just the rigger mount.
  13. I have a 1956 Crestliner, still a lot of outboards from the 1950's and 1960's out on the waters like Lake Chautauqua and I am sure on the Finger Lakes. Lots of boats in the boat lifts around Chautauqua Lake and the like from the 1960's and 1970's.
