Way too nice of an afternoon to not be in the woods. If a doe gives me a clean shot I’ll take it but that hasn’t happened yet this season. Should a buck come through I’ll shoot it with my camera. Wind, like every day lately is swirling a little. Good luck to all.
Saw three different bucks before this guy came in. Got a shot off at 35 yards and it was about five inches back 😡. He took a few more steps and stopped giving me time to rack anothe arrow. Was shaking a little but the second shot was perfect and he took two more steps and dropped.
Certainly no monster but big body and a lot of fun.
Good luck everyone.
Had none. Walked up on my son and said he wasn’t hunting and walked away quickly. He walked by another young hunter either before or after, he’s the one that took the pic.
My older boy was on stand yesterday evening. Our target buck on that property has been seen a few times over the last three days but no shots yet. Around 4:30 my kid sees the buck running just north of him. He couldn’t understand why until a minute later. Trespassers suck in general but to add a shotgun during bow season is just next level.
Got a pic of a fox last night but I don’t think a fox was trying to get to him. The table I put over the grave might have kept a Yote from coming in but we will see.
Usually I don’t mess with coyotes until after late season deer is over but special situations call for quicker action.
On October 8 I had to put my lab Duke down. Tough stuff but it was time. Buried him in the backyard in a spot he loved. Today I walked by to freshen up a scrape and the coyotes had tried to dig him out last night. They got pretty close, including ripping off a piece of the blanket he was wrapped in.
I filled the hole back up and took a large glass table off the deck and placed it over the site. I put a cell cam in a tree 15 feet away. The site is only 40 yards from my house and the .204 will be ready tonight when he, they, come back. Upstairs bedroom window has seen many a coyote get killed. Hopefully more to come soon.
