Fillet knives

Looking for a better fillet knife i see alot of people using bubba knives on fishing shows are they really that good or are the Dexter's just as good

Anyone using the bubba or dexter in the 50.00 dollar range

I have 9” and 12” Aftco fillet knives that work well and hold an edge. I think they were $100-$120 when I bought them. 
I believe they have discontinued them so you may be able to find a deal on them.

Dexter is a good utilitarian choice with some nice grip options. Match the size to the fish you expect to fillet, of course. I like Victorinox myself, with Cutco being a close second.

Nice thing about Cutco is sending them in at the end of the season for free sharpening.

For Filleting salmon and big browns i use a prime rib knife,get one off amazon for 12 bucks,I’ve been using the same one for over 10 years. A bit overkill for small browns, I use an aftco for them.

One thing you might consider is buying them used. Some great options online.

Im with whaler on this one Cutco an all around great fillet knife.

Cutco and if they don’t sharpen it, it’s replaced for free.

And don’t ask if you bought them new or used.

So long as they replace them, that's a great deal. Eventually, even with free sharpening you're going to lose metal, and eventually the knife is going to be so thin as to be unusable. Ask me how I know lol. 

 

But if that nets you a new knife, then hats off to Cutco. I buy Darn Tough socks because they'll replace them for life. I usually get about five or six years out of a pair, then back they go. I send a bunch of them back in batches to save on shipping costs. But I digress.

About every other year or so, we get new knives. I’ve never ever worked with a sh1t7y knife from them.
