Braddocks 8/1
MrKato replied to reeltrout's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I appreciate the information. With the strong NW winds today I am sure warmer water will move back in and pile up on the south shore. I see down temp at 35 ft this morning was 49 degrees but I am pretty sure that won’t hold thru Wednesday with the strong west/northwest winds. But will start around 80-100 and see what down temps look like. Thanks again!! -

We were doing an east and west troll, There was lots of boats out in that area and thats mostly the pattern that was going on. We caught fish both ways but trolling west was probably a little better. We had the most marks in 140 fow but also had good action in that 170-180 till the last hour there was nothing and the marks were'nt much there anymore either. Our divers we were running 160-240 out on a 3 setting. Probe rigger was set at 50 degrees which was around 70 down with 1 rigger above that and 1 below. Carbon 14 spoon was going for us and other black/silver/green spoons. but the fake meat rigs took the most and best shots. I dont know what the blow today will do but i would probably start in 80 an head north till you find marks then start working them. hope this helps and good luck! Our 23 lber came on a 300 ft copper. -

When you were fishing that 140-180 fow, were you fishing a north/south, south/north, east/west, west/east troll? Was one direction better than another. Planning on getting out this Wednesday out of Braddock and any info you can provide would be helpful. Have not been out in about 3 weeks. Thanks! Mr Kato -
I've got a Penn Yan 180 Gamefish for sale. Very well maintained and in beautiful condition. It's got a 3.0 Liter Mercruiser in it, recently tuned and serviced by Snake Creek Marine in Montrose, PA. Bilge and engine bay are about as clean as you'll find. The engine starts, shifts, and idles perfectly. Comes with full canvas including bimini, side curtains, and mooring cover, all in excellent condition. Trailer has rollers and new galvanized cross members. I will include two (2) Big Jon electric downriggers and a kicker motor mount that you can install yourself or have installed professionally. The boat is turn key, ready to go. Stringers and transom are solid; no transom flex whatsoever with significant pressure added to the outdrive. Honestly a beautiful boat; I just don't need it as I am going to be restoring another Penn Yan. Asking $5600 or best reasonable offer.

My dad and I set out of Sodus at 530pm and began fishing at 6PM. Sat down in 180 and trolled north marking fish and bait. Hit 240fow and screen lit up. We were running a meat program with 2 dipsys and 2 riggers. All four rods fired at the same time. We managed to boat all 4!!! All 4 were 18-22lbs. Turned around and hit the same spot over and over. From 645-8:15 we had 20 bites in total. We dropped 14 fish after landing those four. It was frustrating! Ended up doubling at 8:10pm as I was filleting and had our limit. Riggers down 99 and 110 standard size dipsy’s on a 1 setting back 305 on each side. Sunday AM we only had until 730am motored out to 100 and sat down there. It was a little slower but we went 2/3 on a 24lb king and a 21lb king. All meat bite. The 24lb king came in 65 degree water as I was dropping back the dipsy down around 50 feet. The other king came on a rigger down 95. All meat spread again. Went home with around 95lbs of filets. not bad for under 5 hours of fishing. Most hits came on dragon slayer flasher with a stud attomik meat rig. Ended up running that on 2 of my 4 rods.

Started in 250fow and fished out past 600fow. Down temp bounced up and down all day. Had 50 water at times 95-125' of wire down. Caught fish all day as high up as 75' and down as low as 135' but no rhyme or reason to location; though most bites came after we had a mark on the screen. Mag Green Hulk gold back was best bait by far (to the point that both riggers had them the last 2 hrs). Dipsies didn't start hitting until after 10:30 and our batting average on keeping them buttoned was .300 at best. Mag deeper diver @ 225' and 275'; 1.5 settings; SD's bullfrog & dragon slayer w/ crinkle green flies. Couple long copper (300 & 450) rips...the fishing group was happy with the box of teeners and all was well. Mag Green Hulk (gold back) Green Knight Rasp Carbon Dragon Slayer SD 8" Glowfrog SD 8"
