At 4:30 am on 7/3, we arrived at Sandy Creek boat launch to get on the water early and was surprised that the boat launch was blocked by two teenager on matching 50 ish cc Honda dirt bikes. This was a surprise as it was dark out. A few moment went by with no words so I drove my truck/boat around the circle to prepare to back up. The teenagers were fumbling around with all the bags of goodies/drinks which they dropped and left in the launch area which included eggs(not hard boiled). They finally moved out of the way and we could hear them running their mouths but paid no attention since our attention was to get boat launched. They drove off. When I parked my truck in the parking lot, I didn’t see/hear them on their dirt bikes but when walking back to the launch, I heard them back in the parking lot. Again, not paying attention, I proceeded to get ready to head out in the lake. To my surprise, around noon when returning to my truck to load my boat, my vehicle’s windshield wipers were propped out, gas tank cover propped open & side mirrors pushed in and can only assume it was them. Like why would anyone mess around with someone’s vehicle.

Warning if you run into these teenagers at the boat launch as I suspect they live in the area. No words were exchanged so what would prompt this activity other than immaturity.

This morning, 7/5 at 5:30, the portapotty was found in the ramp area of the N ramp in 2 to 3' of water. Someone had dragged it from it's location 75 yards east of the ramp and dragged it into the water of the ramp. TP was floating in the creek as well as whatever else was in the shi..er. I can't imagine the blue "juice" in the portapotty is good for the environment. If these idiots can be identified, they should be held accountable, and it shouldn't be too hard to identify 2 youth on matching dirt bikes. Maybe the ramp camera can shed a little light on the perps.

These incidents should be reported if they haven't already been. This isn't the first time there's been issues at this launch. Cameras and more presence of law enforcement would be nice.

Agreed. Having a little fun zooming around on dirt bikes is one thing, vandalizing property and preventing others from using the resource is another entirely. Time to have a little chat with these kids' parents. Anybody got a name? PM me.

Border patrol used to sit in the overflow parking lot but haven’t seen them in a long time. Maybe if someone knows someone there, they could ask them to sit there while working overnights sometime.

Should put a trail camera there or two.
maybe place a cooler or some other decoy to lure them into camera range.

Does DEC or anyone actually monitor the camera ? I’ve seen the cam. Whether it’s the same kids or not, some authority presence should be made. School is out but still can’t imagine parent are allowing assuming brothers out on dirt bikes all hours of the nights.  Hoping for good outcome.

I don’t do Facebook but someone that does puts it up in Hamlin you will find out quickly who the kids are.

I nominate Gator to go speak with the parents. Scott would ask to use their bathroom, bad look for sure.

Its every where you go its sad but is what the world is coming to.You just hope your at the right place at the right time and not the wrong place at the wrong time. Lock everything up and report anyone that looks suspicious.

I know it's bad but it not like stuff like this hasn't been going on forever .

Just dumb ass kids that need a boot in the ass .

I mean it I NEVER  did anything like that when I was younger .

They probably found a less obvious place to sleep.

You cannot really blame them, because there is hardly anything to do for them along the lake. They are here because it is part of the border area, but it is probably the most boring area to work in.

When we arrived at the launch around 2 o'clock yesterday the DEC was there and they are the ones that pulled the porta john out of the launch. The launch was a mess for sure. TP in the water etc.. The DEC guy said "Someone probably pushed it in with their truck". Wonder if it was actually pulled by the dirt bikes to the waters edge?

From what I have heard , there is more crossing across the lake than you might think .

Last year or year before , on a  few. Sun mornings  first light I saw a few Hispanic guys launching a maybe 21' fun and sun style boat and take off towards the middle of the lake when I was fishing at the mouth . This happened like 3 times . Didn't really think much about it at the time . Definitely not a fishing boat . Kind of strange .

When I saw it I had a fleeting thought that some drunks pushed it in there with someone inside and they probably thought that it was the funniest thing ever.

Here's a story from the past:

Unnamed buddy of mine and I were fishing Sandy out of the canoe when he had a bad case of "now bowels".

The porta-john had been tipped over, but he had no choice. We righted it, and in he went. Only to come out a minute later, pants around his ankles, covered in unsavory stuff, and swatting madly around himself, yelling "Bees!!"

Imma pretend I didn't split my sides laughing.

I think I would have opted for the woods behind it before standing it up! Made for a great story in the end though

Bee... Live it or not, this has happened to me on a construction site , more than once.  Summer time what I open the door and smack the side hard to see if there isn't activity .
