  1. Hey Brett, it is interesting how we can share fishing stories and fishing programs, what we get em on, how deep, how fast, if you have all the gear that I have and you go out fishing good luck have fun. Use your gear, catch fish, I know I catch more fish than a couple of the charters on Canandaigua Lake and I will tell you and them what I got them on. Tight lipped old timers...
  2. sweet fish but you left out some details, inline board or big boards?
  3. I think you could win the walleye category with a 3 lb fish, I have never seen anyone weigh walleye for the LOC derby spring summer or fall, but I could be wrong.
  4. In Rochester the sportsman channel is on Time Warner Cable channel 221, I don't get the channel but you can pay per view the whole channel for one month at 5.95, just checked it out tonight
  5. You could try mounting a 2x8 to an area on the deck or just inside the gunwale like I did in the pics below
  6. landshark that is a bad link try the one below, http://goodtimessportfishing.net/
  7. In 2007 Exxon set an annual profit record by earning $40.61 billion - or nearly $1,300 per second in 2007. That exceeded its previous record of $39.5 billion in 2006. I couldn't find the 2008 figures but they beat 2007 from what I recall. I am going to go and get drunk now
  8. I found this link on a similar discussion on the sanders forum which gives retailers providing fuel without ethanol, not sure how valid it is as of today's date, the only Kwik Fill locations listed are Castile, NY and Jamestown, nY http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NY FWIW, I looked at other states on that site like CA for instance list 3 retailers, NY lists 22. Wisconsin and Louisiana too many to count.
  9. some guy who I won't name hooks up the black box wire leads to his wire diver rods, if you have one why not try it out,
  10. What kind of releases do you use? A pinch pad release attached to fishy weight's tail could cause issues too. I like the Black's Release, you attach the release to your cable or termination then attach the Black's so the release is above the weight. Your weight then gets attached to the Blacks. Check them out I think there 9.95 a good value.
  11. those fish weights or herbie's are notorious for erratic behavior in the water. Some guys try to bend the tail to "swim" left or right but I have two and I use them for ballast in the bow. Ditto for the pancake type weight with a bendable metal "fin". If you are looking to try something less frustrating I have heard good things about the ATOMIK torpedo weights. I have a 15 lb. Shark weight I use for the probe rigger, a 12 lb tru trac and a 10 lb cannon ball. Good luck, hey at least you are fishing not typing like me.
  12. Hi Tom, I saw you working a couple days ago on N Main St Canandaigua, just a few houses down from me but I didn't have time to stop and say hi. He might mean the outlet at the north end by Steamboat landing, if that is the case, I don't think there is much action there, but again in spring I've seen guys around the lagoons off 5 and 20 by Wegman's fishing for what I am assuming are bullheads.
  13. sweet report, I like the dipsy off the boards set up, I assume big boards not inlines?
  14. you should post those pics on the fishing pics forum, for the people who don't look through the Finger Lake Discussion, those are big, beautiful landlocks
  15. I love how you can bring your catch to a restaurant and they will cook it up for you. The spread of salad and fried filets looks delicious. I was in Mexico with family once and did the same thing with a mahi mahi.
  16. Hey Gill T the organizers are the Camp Good Days and Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce, June 4 and 5 are probably the dates, but it may be June 11 and 12, I don't know for sure just going by past few years dates. FYI 2010 biggest fish were all brown trout, grand prize winner was caught on a sawbelly with a slip bobber out of a tin can, no sonar, around 80 FOW
  17. there was a discussion on sanders forum about this, kind of funny, the usual " hey the lake is icing up", next post, "you must stupid to go out on 2" of ice", http://www.sandersoutdoors.com/Communit ... ts&t=33089
  18. I had a similar issue, low power, wouldn't plane out, and stalling at idle or trolling speed with my '85 Sea Ray with 350 Mercruiser. Finally took her to a real mechanic, not the guys in the marina who said I needed a carb rebuild. Main problems diagnosed were the timing was 16 degrees off, should be 8 degrees BTDC, mine was at 8 degrees after top dead center and rotor was not seated or "keyed" in place. All ignition parts replaced, timed, tuned, the ignition wires were original from '85 too, the mechanic couldn't believe it even ran. While he was at it all fluids changed, new prop, main battery cables relugged, new fuel lines. First time out with her after the repairs, I dumped the throttle and she jumped up right on plane with 4 people on board, coolers, and gear and hit 40 mph SOG in about 7 seconds. Driving boat around running like crap: $0 Paying for repairs on boat: $1000 Having a mechanic who knows what he's doing (since I don't): PRICELESS
  19. I use some 11" flashers by Hot Spot and Pro Troll, West Coast companies I think, also a couple Goldstar spoons that are small like 5 of diamonds size but light like a NK 28, good slider spoon this website offers rigger cable to 500' http://www.johnssportinggoods.com/Salmon%20Tackle.htm home page http://www.johnssportinggoods.com/index.htm also 300' of 200 lb spectra downrigger line for which here is the knot diagram http://www.johnssportinggoods.com/Spectra%20Knot.htm
  20. check ac holmes post from a few days ago, he was getting landlocks with Mooselooks in gold and orange, they look slim, so a DW SS or similar bait in that color pattern, I love copper and orange, orange/ black/ brass in spoons high up
  21. cool vessel, I forgot about your Penn Yan, I went to your website to read about the YT3, 2011 should be a great season for you, congratulations, good luck with sale of your other vessels
  22. unbelievable guys, what an awesome fish, watching that beauty swim away after holding her for the pics has got to make you SMILE too, great job
  23. I'd say from the looks of that buck you aren't missing your boat, nice rack, BTW is the RIP Holy Diver a reference to your boat or Ronnie James Dio?
