Scumbag Thieves

Hey guys, had my entire musky tackle box stolen out of boat at the Seneca Travel Plaza in Victor. I was in and out in less than 4 min and the absolute scum clearly does things like this often. No cameras see the parking lot so I’m out of luck there. 100s of dollars of lures gone. 
 

If members of the forum can check FB marketplace over the next few weeks, for a nice lot of musky lures, that would be great. If you see a suspiciously nice lot of lures being sold. Please PM me.

Rusty’s custom white sick sucker, slammer tackle twitch baits, full size white bondy, bondy mini wobbler in vomit, white and black. Adams Havoc Crankbaits. 4 suicks (I’ll know the patterns). Red October Ninja Tubes. Lil Eagle single bucktails, and Rabid Squirrel bucktails. Waterwolf Shadzillas. Shallow and regular swimming dawgs. Couple of other lures but those are the main things.

What a crock. It's unreal the increase in grab-and-go crimes. But the real crime is that NYS rest stops don't have cameras covering the parking lot. Because who would think that thieves would target those areas? Except everyone.

What’s incredible is the lack of integrity needed for someone to just do this. It’s an admission of sinking so low as a human that you no longer have any respect for your self or society as a whole. I hate that I now have to lock every ounce of my gear up and treat everyone as a potential criminal because some dirtbag has lost the decent portion of his humanity. 
 

Also yes, not having working cameras at a newly remodeled rest stop is just the cherry on top.

No camaras in the parking lot ? I find that strange . There are camaras on everything . NYS at its finest . A parking lot where an awful lot can happen , like vehicle break ins , abductions , fender benders , pedestrians getting hit and no camaras. I loose faith in gov daily .

This kind of post been posted on here several times over the years.  Sucks to hear your gear got rip off .. It's the laws and criminal penalties our law makers and judges make up or set penalties to be lite on criminals! 

We the people that vote keep them in office and I doubt it'll ever change. Look at the guy that burn the youg girl with a bottle of gas . 72 convictions and an activist judge let him out of court on an ankle bracelet instead of putting him in jail .

The more I thought about it, the more that theft at a place with no cameras is almost like a 100% success rate. Even if I saw the person, I’d had to get a license plate to even have a shot of getting them arrested. If I confronted them, what would I do? Fight them or get shot/stabbed? People saw this theft occur, (cars in the lot people coming and going) and nobody said or did or noticed anything (I asked around) For thieves, it’s far easier for them to steal and face no repercussions than it is for me to actually get some justice on the matter. It’s insane.

They re-do all of these rest areas(last done in 1993 by the way so not really that old) and they don't have cameras posted in areas which have a high potential for criminal activity like human trafficing, drug dealing, and unfortunately burglary.    The question is why not??   Things like this have me convinced we are doomed.   One reason may be that these service areas are contracted out and managed by a private firm so maybe that is the reasoning.

I know this is a bit off point and a little bit of stealing his thread, and I'm sorry for both. but about 3 years ago, my pole barn was broken into then about 6 months it happened again. The 1st time, i couldn't find out for sure who did it, and they cleaned me out for a few thousand in tools, my trolling gear for Lake Erie's central basin.

 

The second time, they took almost everything of any value. I had just replaced all my rods and reels for trolling, and those were stolen again, all my saltwater gear rods, reels, my Sabiki bait catching rigs, plus a full tackle box of 3, 4, 5, ox no roll sinkers, and 2 other boxes of barrel sinkers, 1/2 oz to 5 oz, plus all the baits i had, my almost new Hobart welder that had been used

Bottom line is i feel you pain and distrust of other people.

I will send a letter to the throughway authority asking them why there are no cameras overseeing the parking lots. I do not expect an answer beyond the usual bureaucratic drivel.

I wrote an email to the chain of rest stops asking for assistance and basically insinuating that if cameras weren’t overseeing parking lots, it would be wildly negligent for a newly remodeled facility.

Agreed.  Makes no sense why there wouldn't be.    There seems to be everywhere else in today's world.
