NYS Deer Tags 1 buck?

Anyone get their tags in the mail. I have lifetime gun, bow and muzzleloading. 
 

i only see 1 antlered deer and two anterless deer tags. 
 

are we down to one buck per year?

Yup,  To get an additional buck tag, you gotta pop a doe.  Once reported, DEC will add a second buck tag to your account.  Questions is, what's stopping folks from reporting a doe early in the year?  Will they require pic with current date and geo tag?

How many roadkill doe will get their photo taken?

That would support their argument of too many deer.  IMO with not much data, i don't think it's a population problem as much as an access problem.  The areas they want deer killed, try getting access to that land from property owners....

I had called the DEC for clarity, they are asking that after shooting a doe to take a picture and keep the head for 7 days.  The good news is that if you kill a buck early enough in the bow season, you can get a doe and kill another buck before even the start of the regular season.

If I were to shoot a deer on a farm for a nuisance tag tomorrow, would that count as my doe harvest to get my second buck tag?

I was told no. I was also told one during the September antler less hunt doesn’t count either that you have to take a doe once bow season starts.

That is bullsh*t.  I would fill a doe tag early just to get my second buck tag but knowing that, I will not now.  If I killed a doe in September, I would have more time to take more doe during the season.

It is known, Khaleesi.

 

It's also known that you need to EITHER keep the head for seven days OR take a digital photo of the head to show that it was an antlerless animal and retain it for seven days. If you did neither but took the doe to a processor, you would need to provide the processor's contact information ONLY IF asked by DEC (sorry for the shouting).

 

None of these measures requires submitting any documentation to the State, at least as of this year. There are plans to adopt a digital photo submission option into the HuntFishNY app in the future.

Does it count if it is a road kill doe?    All joking aside, you know someone is going to do it.

Heck yeah somebody will do it. I'd guess that whatever AI model DEC uses to calculate the actual harvest will incorporate that lol.

 

But most of us will play by the rules. Too many tasty doe around anyway.
