  2. Sorry for the late report. Got out with my brother and nephew both mornings out of Irondequoit. Saturday was a little bumpy and not a whole lot to report. We fished from 125 to 200 fow. We lost a couple small fish ( both under 5 lbs.) - one on a Mountain Dew flasher and fly on a dipsy, and another on a spoon fished off a rigger. We pulled lines about 10:30, just before the rain came in. We did lose a TX 22 planer board which somehow broke off one of our lead core rods. The line broke right at the rod, but we didn't hear any drag... a log? Stupidly, I didn't mark the way point. In the waves, and having to make a slow turn with lines in, we lost sight of it. Sunday the heavy fog rolled in just as we hit the water around 6:30. But only a little chop on the water, which was nice after Saturday. We set up around 125 fow with some other boats. We didn't see much, so we just pointed north, and eventually got out to 400 fow. Very few marks again, but we did manage a small king and our best-on- boat 11 lb steelhead caught by my nephew. Both fish taken on spoons fished off riggers in the top 40 feet. The steelhead took a caramel dolphin. Once the fog lifted somewhat, we pointed south into 140 fow and pulled lines about 11. Other boats seemed mostly scattered and in search mode like us. Always great to be out on the water with family. Hopefully can give it another try in a few weeks. Thanks to everyone posting and sharing info.

  6. Pretty sure Braddocks isn’t considered a navigable waterway hence it falls on the marina owners, Gibbs and Danielleys to keep it open.
  7. Pappy - I am interested in your boat. Please message me.
  8. Was filling up my dad's boat this weekend (onshore), and was approached by a gentleman who asked an interesting question. He asked, "since that isn't being used for road use, how do you write off the additional road tax added to the price?". (He was a retired CPA and was curious). He had a point as we used to do this when filling up snowmobiles years ago at certain gas stations. So, for the weekend warriors who fill up onshore, is there a legal way to write off the road tax on gas used in boats?
  9. Unfortunately, till people stop giving them money to slip their boat there it may never change. I don’t get it, people having issues in that channel ruining lower ends for years, but still use it. Unless they dredge yearly, that channel is not suitable for bigger boats.

    Lake Erie Bite 2024

Heading to Small Boat Harbor in Buffalo this weekend for the first time ever to troll for some eyes. Anyone have a starting depth? Bringing boards and 2 to 7 color lead cores. I have both a variety of sticks both shallow and deep and harnesses. Thanks for any feedback.
  11. Good news lets hope the weather conditions are right.
  12. The mounting plate is definitely the way to go two holes and sealed with the above mentioned calk and never look back. Twenty two years on mine and still great. An upside to it is also the option to either move the transducer for better positioning, or to add other transducers etc. in the future.
  13. I've used Stern Savers on a couple of aluminum boats without any problems. 9 years for the one, 11 for the other.
  14. Depending on weather it could be slower but might still be OK....Oswego or Mexico is probably a better option that time of year.
  15. I would mechanically fasten and then seal with lifecaulk, or 4200 - have done it a million times and you won't have any issues with water intrusion and its solid. Both LIfecaulk and 4200 are rated for below waterline applications. Do not use cheap silicone or caulk from Lowes...
  16. Another slide diver guy here. I have been running 35 foot of 40# mono as well to a 6 foot section of flouro. I ran 30# mono for a bit but felt I was replacing it too often. Ive been running black slide divers with the clear mag ring (no mag weight) Works well for me.
  17. Congrats Mike! Keep up the good work!
  18. Not exactly what you are looking for....I mounted a piece of poly board with 4 screws sealed with 5200, and mounted my transrucers to that.
  19. Dark till daylight.......it’s about 7 hours......9:30PM - 4:30AM. 10-2 being prime.
  20. I typically run 2 wire divers per side on Ontario. Deep inside is a Mag on 1.5 or 2 and an outside High on 3.5 or 4. ‘IF’ fish seem negative, I will swap out 1 or both high divers for a braid slide diver on 4 with 40’ of 40lb mono for diver to slide on. For Erie walleye I usually run 3 divers per side. Deep inside mag on wire and then 2 regular dipsys. I hardly ever run slide divers for Wallye because of conflicts with the other divers /just too much more labor with typically fast fish action.
  21. They are quite deadly for lake trout on Seneca and Cayuga and Keuka. The double spoon gives them a clicking sound in the water.
  22. Congratulations Frogger and everyone. Was a great derby, weather was awesome for 2 days. So enjoyable and already looking forward to next year. This lake is on it's way back. I think, looking at the big picture, the Dec has a decent picture of what is happening. Of course., everything subject to Mother Nature's whim.
  23. Congrats Mike! I landed a decent mix of lakers and browns, 1 bow and 1 landlocked but couldn't get anything in the boat much over 5 lbs. Yesterday, had a better brown on but on his 3rd jump he spit the hook. Enjoyed it out there, congrats to all the winners!
  24. Thanks guys, this year however we struggled to get anything larger than 7lbs in the box. We’ve all been there, when you least expect it right. 50% being in the right place at the right time, 30% determination, 20% luck! Can’t say enough for my net man (son)with a perfect net job. With a little high fiving and yahooing my apologies to the boat still fishing next to us watching the show.
