Anyone feel like everything is super behind? I’m not see hardly any sign laid down by bucks.

My cameras have been dead since I hung them until 2 days ago. Now they are on fire. My plan right now is to leave Ohio early and hunt the NY opener on Wednesday morning. I have day walkers!

NYS southern zone archery opener

I left Ohio early (and tagged out) and headed home to catch the cold front for the opener. I'm glad I did because it was the most insane archery opener ever for me. Lots of deer on their feet this morning including 6 bucks. I missed an opportunity to kill a stud 10 this morning. I just needed him to take one step to his right. But that's the game. My camera has been catching bucks leaving the acorn flats and heading to bedding about 730-930 for the past 1.5 weeks. I'll be there again in the am to intercept.

Chipmunk was pretty big though.

Well I was going to wait, but we’ve got a lot of day time mature bucks on their feet the past few days. That being said anyone processing deer on the west of Rochester?  Barn is mess,Not really ready to cut one up yet if I let an arrow fly.  Next few days look promising. Good luck to all!

Is that the guy on the east side of the road, that has the deer laying in the driveway?

Thanks for the quick responses! cams showed two mature 8's battling this morning at 5am! rattling might be an option, although I've never had great success.

A little early for rattling in big bucks imho however they may come in out of curiosity. Tickling antlers together and keeping it less aggressive might do the trick. As appose to smashing them together and being very aggressive with them as you would in the last week of October. I had 2 small bucks yesterday afternoon that were sparring and it pulled a small buck (which walked right past me) right to them. He was eager to also get in the action.

Sitting on the oak flat tonight. Lots of deer moving throughout the entire time of my sit. 4 bucks this afternoon (3 1 year olds and a decent buck possibly an 8pt). I also had 15+ deer in the field as I was walking out.

Sat on the sidelines this morning due to the south east wind. I really don't have much that works for that wind so I took the morning off. Of course multiple good bucks on camera this morning including one of my shooters. I'll be back this afternoon as the wind looks to be shifting to NE late in the day.
