PSA: Hooks are sharp!

Cleaning the garage is the last place I expected to impale myself with a fishing hook, but here I am—living proof it can happen.

I was hanging some musky lures from a high shelf and standing on my tippy-toes. I got the lure hung, but then I slipped, impaling myself and ending up dangling by one finger from the shelf.

After a quick trip to the hospital for a snip and some shots, I was back out fishing the next day!

That is truly awful. I took one in the thumb on Saturday. Was so thankful the barb didn’t penetrate.

I dont know how i have not managed to hook myself "badly" in my fishing career.  Probably just jinxed myself.....

I think that is part of the initiation to get to Fishing Lord status.

How did you get that out?  I would have cut the hook and then just pulled it through the same direction it went in.

I know that feeling! The worse part for me is that I was fishing solo and the fish was still on the lure. It was shaking so I couldn't let go of it with my other hand until it died. Then I was able to push the hook through, cut off the barb end and back it out. First time in 40 years that has happened.

Many years ago, while fishing with family, put a hook right thru ring finger.  Dad said he'd get wire cutters and push it out.  Mom screamed "NO, take him to doctor!"  Got to doctor's and doctor pulled out some wire cutters and pushed it thru.
