Fishing Cayuga yesterday for perch , using crappie sliders I hooked into this giant smallmouth , 7 pounds 14 Oz , quick weight and a couple pics and released , I have never seen a smalley that muscular Adjustments.JPGIMG_1735.JPG

Beautiful fish.  I'm betting it took you a few minutes to get it to the boat with a panfish rig.  Thanks for posting

Thanks, I didnt think I would , it jumped once and then just kept digging , I thought for sure it would snap my 6 pound test

I love what the catch and release trend is doing for the fisheries. When I was a kid a 4 pound smallmouth was giant. Now I expect to catch one at least 4 pounds on every trip

That's a tank!  I caught my first 5-6lb smallie perch fishing 20+ years ago in Union springs behind Frontenac island in about 14 fow on a little jig.  In those days we had never seen a fish like that just we don't see too many 7+ today! I fell in love with smallmouths that day.  Thanks for sharing!
