I took a different approach than usual. I had a very little used Lowrance outboard pilot hydraulic from a previous boat so that saved me about $1200. It is integrated into my existing HDS12 gen 2 Touch. I used a Vevor hydraulic steering setup ($350) on my 9.9 Suzuki. The setup only controls the Suzuki and not the main Mercruiser 4.3. I find it very responsive since it is not turning the out drive, just the trolling motor. I can trim up the Merc all the way when trolling if necessary. I mounted the helm in a convenient place on the lower dash and put a 4 in crank handle on it to turn the kicker manually. I have a low water situation at my cottage at times which is problematic for using main power to get to my dock. I can trim Merc up fully and get to dock with Suzuki manually since I have it set up such that the skeg doesn't go below lowest part of hull. Very happy with setup.

I looked last night before work....cannot find that stuff...I may have scrapped it but don't recall throwing it out...not sure what you're trying to do but if you're having trouble with your ddis system, I gotta say, you'd be much better off doing away with it and going with the same kit I went with...runs way better and parts are readily available. I got an hei kit # 107-A from http://www.michiganmotorz.com -

4/27 Sodus - go deep
turkeykiller2 replied to lumberjohn's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
This is probably true about the other boat. You have to find the pocket of them right now and once you do its game on. Same with lakers, once you locate them its non stop action. Keep looking in the 70 to 110 area until you find them and then stick to them.- 1 reply

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give him a call later on. And i understand that it's a busy time of year and I'm not faulting any of them, it is what it is. I know an engine rebuild or swap isn't going to be on top of anyone's list to do for a little while. -

Any recommendations for a good marine mechanic in wny area?
Reel Chaos replied to Mkenward1's topic in This Old Boat
I recommend Tom at East Fork Marine. He has done a few things on my boat and a great guy in my experience. Having said that right now is a very busy time of year I would assume for boat mechanics and likely why taking time to get back to you. -
After a winter of getting various upgrades for my boat ready to hit the lake hard this season, finally pulled the boat out and fired her up for the first time and found the worst case scenario... the block has a giant crack in it. I did winterize it the same way I have the past 5 years with the exception of using a "better" antifreeze this year to flush any water from the system prior to opening the drains so I really don't know how any waylter could have been in there to freeze. Regardless it happened and now I need to "Bust Out Another Thousand" on getting the mercruiser 5.0 fixed. I've called a couple places trying to get some estimates but have had to leave messages at all of them and haven't heard anything back from any of them yet. Anyone know of any good marine mechanics that can tackle the job in the pt breeze - olcott areas?

Found out my Lowrance Hook 7 Triple shot came with a Navionics card that has no overlays in it. Navionics doesn't support the older cards so I have a $700 door stop. Unless someone has an older card, I would need a Navionics Card MSD/SD US East , hope to hear from someone with better news than Lowrance or Navionics had.

I've sold about 7 grand in machinist tools on FB market place in the last few months. Four out of five responses are from scamming Aholes. Fortunately I learned that before I got beat.
